Hi,
I have a Fender Japan '54 reissue strat which I love the feel, look (a battered shell pink), and sound of.
I have already upgraded the pickups which are now slightly-hotter-than-vintage spec (although not BKs - sorry) but am not too happy with the vol knob: It's not stiff enough for my liking and easily nudged when playing. Plus it seems to quieten down too quickly between 10 and 8 and then more gradually down to 0.
Also, I like to manipulate the vol knob (especially to get 'clean' tones when using fuzz/overdrive) but this always robs me of top-end. I know this is normal but wondered if changing the value of the pot, or even changing some other components, would allow me to turn down whilst retaining more of the jangly brightness I like.
I've heard about CTS pots, orange drop and sprague caps but have no idea what they do.
Any advice?
Thanks
