Well what pups is good to get this kind of tone. I like it that it's FAT and also i notice when he solo and go all the way up the neck it does not sound thin it still retains it body and fatness. Does not Thin out.

Which set should I go for?

He's got a Firebird Studio with humbuckers which sounds a bit like an SG.

I'd say Stormy Mondays and a fat amp and pedal combo...

I would agree with that.  I have a set of Alinico II SMs in an S.G. and they stay round, sweet and warm sounding - with a gentle looseness in the bass.

I think the Alnico IV Mules ( second choice ) - would be too punchy and defined for that particular sound.

well im using an SG with Mule Alnico V. Still Fat but with more punch. I guess with the right  amp and pedal i can get those tones.
