New geetar day!

Been a while since I gots anything new, and I found a beauty.

An upgraded '03 mexi strat. Got a straight swap with my battered SG, and I'm chuffed. Upgrades include a bone nut, fancy snipping tuners and a super sweet set up. One loud and well playing strat.

Only thing is the bridge is set  really high, so floating quite a bit off the body. This an easy thing to lower? I don't need much lift, and the vibrato arm knocks on the controls.

Might get better quality pics if i decide to upgrade it further, sounds sweet, so my original idea of making it really hot is out the window. Still getting piledrivers for my tele

Yep, just tighten the trem springs, or add another spring if you need it.

Nice Strat!

You can lower it via the screws near the bridge saddle too if someone has raised them...

Everything has been tightened, still sitting a bit high and the knob on the vibrato arm still knocks the pickup switch. Should the back spring screws be parallel? Right now they are at a \ angle.

Yep, the rear springs should be parallel, and the metal plate holding them should be parallel to cutout in the body of the guitar.

How many springs are there?  With 3 (or 2) it's quite common to attach the outer springs at an angle - that way there's a little more tension.
Also what guage strings to you use?  For 9s or 10s you'd be OK with 3 springs, any heavier your might want 4 or even 5 springs.

And finally, not all springs are equally strong - might even be worth replacing them with stiffer ones.

The springs are angled towards the centre of the metal bit with the screws. Tightened it up as far as it goes, metal thingy still not straight. Also screwed down the bridge screws, still a bit high.

I really likes it, ask me last year if I woul ever get a strat and i would have said hell no bitch, leave me alone! But now, man I don't have humbuckers nor want any.

Still can't decide if I should swap over the scratchplate though. Looks good now, dunno if I would prefer it with a 3ply black one, but white hardware/pickups, like Dave Gilmour...

I agree, 38th, all black strats aren't that great looking if you ask me. Very nice guitar, by the way!

I'm well chuffed. It's so well set up I'm almost reluctant to BKP it now. My tele will be piledriving soon (ordering this weekend me hopes).

Looks classy with the white scratchplate though, actually looks a little creamier than the other white bits and bobs on it, so might have been upgraded as well. Interesting.
