multi fx pedalboards... again
« on: October 09, 2007, 12:32:51 AM »
was doing a bit more research, anyone seen the new pod x3 live? I can't find a decent picture of the connections on the back

found some unofficial software for tweaking the gt8, so now I got a good idea what the unit can and can't do, I was expecting there to be more EQs in there, there is only 1 kind of EQ, it's rather flexible (4 bands with frequency controls, whatever they are called) would have liked a 10 band bar thing as well and a parametric EQ maybe

so anyway...

on the GT8, could you put the the preamp section of an amp into the GT8's fx loop? that way delay and chorus effects could be after the preamp? or is this a bad idea cos of impedance? (yes I'm clueless on such things)

ie guitar > gt8 > gt8 fx loop send > amp input > preamp > amp fx loop send > gt8 fx loop return > gt8 output > amp fx loop return > poweramp > cab

Hi JDC, the 4 bands eq on the GT8 will be parametric eq, and if you have 4 bands of that you won't need a graphic equalizer.

Basically to get the best of your eq you want parametric - it allows you select exactly which frequency you want to boost/cut exactly how much you want to boost and cut it...and how wide a frequency range it covers, so you can 'tune' it to what suits your setup...graphic equalizers just do fixed frequencies and fixed bandwidths.
