True-bypass Distortion in 'Dem Tiny Box-like Thingers
« on: October 08, 2007, 03:27:13 AM »
So if you couldn't decipher the horrible engrish in the posting title, you'll hear all about it in better engrish here.  So, as spurred on my TO to do a seperate post rather than high-jacking another thread, i have written up a new thread for my queries.

Basically this is about true-bypass distortion pedals.  I want to look @ all the options people.  I already know (and have known about) some brands like Home Brew, Bad Cat, Electro Harmonix, those new Blackstar pedals (although i dunno where in the hell i would try one out) and, thanks to another recent post by TO, BroTech.  I would like to get the whole spectrum here, but directed in a more specific direction(s).

I currently own a Boss MT-2, and it is ok, it does what it's told, but it doesn't floor me.

I am looking for something that can handle thundering lows while still maintaining clarity and not getting really muddy.  Also, the high mids and highs must have brilliant definition.  Must be highly tweakable.  200 quid (400 USD) MAXIMUM price limit.  I hope these parameters are sufficient to get a ball-park idea of what i am looking for.

O9,
I assume you are looking for something high gain. You haven't said so, but as you mention an MT-2 in compariston, I shall assume you are after a high gain pedal.

Pedals to look at :-

Keeley MT-2
MI Audio TubeZone
Emma ReezaFRATzitz
Subdecay Blackstar
