Warpig adjustments
« on: November 08, 2007, 04:34:22 PM »
Hi, my first post, and I have a question on the Warpig.
Does anyone know if there is any difference, sonically,  between setting the pickup height low with hex pieces high, and setting pu high with hex pieces flush, so that the gap between strings and hex pieces is the same in both cases.
The reason I ask is I'm considering splitting inner and outer coils, and using the hex pieces to give different outputs e.g. set the pickup height low and set the six north pieces flush, and the six south pieces high.

I dont know if the hight of the poles relative to the body of the pickup has much effect, seince the poles focus the magnetic field with pretty high flux density on the strings.

However, I do know that if you raise the screws on the bridge-wards coil you get more treble and on the neck-wards coil you get more bass. I do this all the time (as in double screw pole is how I have all my BK bridge pickups) to be able to EQ individual strings to some degree.
