I don't like the quality of push pull pots anyway.

Agreed, they have a nasty wobbly feel and the pot part doesn't usually work very well.  Keep it simple!

Yeah I did think of you when I  closed the deal Philly - can't wait to lay my hands on it and experience myself - very curious to see the aging, as that is very hard to tell in pictures. Seen the Vintage Peter Green last week and it looked wrong in many ways ... will see soon ...

They are great looking guitars, the aging is a little artificial when compared to how Fender or Gibson do it but with a lacquer top it should wear in nicely. Edwards have some new darker burst LPs (sorry I don't know the correct name for the colour) that are tempting me.

Gingataff, why don't you take some orders from us here and then come over to Europe, pretending you're a rock star on tour and all these guitars are your live rig, so no customs/VAT needed?

Would be fab, and it would generate lots of business for the BareKnuckles, as all the Japanese strings would be in need for some British pickups

SWEET niiiice one hunter. I'm sure you'll be super-pleased with it (even if the wife isn't). Thing to do is hide ur epi, and say you sold a guitar (she'll be suprised and love you) - then when the new one comes, she won't mind too much because you've replaced ur shiny epi with a 'cr@ppy old guitar' - that was clearly dead cheap. Then if you really like the edwards, sell the epi...

Could work?

It looks a bit like the relic job on my Tokai - not that realistic, but pleasing to the eye anyway  ;)

I really like my Tokai - you don't have to worry about adding any more dings!

I read somewhere that they spray clear finish on these guitars after they do the relicing, which is a bit weird  :? .  But apparently the nitro finish wears in quite quickly, and then the relicing looks a lot more authentic.

I've seen some aged Japanese Strats where the relicing looked very fake - they'd just scr@ped lots of paint off all over the place and it looked nothing like natural wear patterns.  The JP LPs all seem to have the same relicing, so I guess they're copied from pics of his actual guitar.

It can't be easy to do an authentic relic finish.  I saw one of those Fender Rory Gallagher Tribute Strats up close, and it looked pretty phoney to be honest.

There's a pair of the new Fender "Heavy Relic" Strats in my local music shop at the moment.  The wear on them looks awful given how much they cost - the Vintage brand Strats look very similar for one tenth of the price!

The early Fender Relics were great though, before they got complicated and started offering all the Time Machine and Closet Classic options.

I had a chance to buy a lovely lightweight sunburst '62 Relic Strat for £800 at a guitar show years ago, but while I was wandering around thinking about it someone else got it.  I've never seen one at that kind of price since (although I haven't really been looking).

About the feeling guilty towards spending money on yourself i would suggest to just get over that, life will become much easier.

My wife isnt always that happy about the things i buy, but she knows i wont spend too much and thats enough for her, sometimes she does complain because we have other plans for the money and then i pass the GAS. If passing the GAS isnt an option i would probably show her the edwards but with the gibson logo and price tag, it does work with mine, well a bit...

Wonderfull axe, hope to hear a clip soon

If I can ask, where did you get this from and how much did it cost you? I'm thinking about getting myself another LP and want a MIJ of some kind and dont know where to look. Ishibashi seems a bit dodgy, I cant understand their site at all

Honestly Tom, Ishibashi isn't dodgy at all.  Yes, their site is hard to understand but - stating the obvious - it's Japanese   .

If you want to buy something - even if you can't find it on the site - the thing to do is to click on the "English" link and send them an email.  They'll get back to you with a price, a shipping quote and a link for making a secure credit card payment (they don't charge the card until the item ships).

The staff speak (or write!) very good English, keep you informed about progress of your order and you deal with the same person throughout the process (I'm sure all the lady assistants are incredibly cute too, but that may be my imagination running away with itself  ).  They're 10 times better than most UK music shops I've dealt with.
