They should have the bassist singing all the time, so much better than Justin. The GnR cover in the related links is really good as well.

how does a band have two singers that good, and still aren't good? actually, i think justins a really good singer, he just doesn't know how. all he does is try to sing as high as he possibly can, when he should only be doing that rarely.

edit: i just read the latest comment on that video. the new band has the bassist singing? is it the same band without justin, or did the other brother leave too? and whats their new name?

Yep, Richie has now moved from bass to vocals (& guitar). Dan is still the guitarist, Ed's still the drummer and they have a new bassist called Toby MacFarlaine.  They haven't announced the new band name yet, AFAIK.

I'll be interested to hear what they come up with, but I have a feeling they've had their 15 minutes.  Justin could be a dick, but he was the one who gave them something extra.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I heard this the other day and felt any remaining fairies die:

There are some things that should just be left alone. Do't get me wrong I like a good cover. I'll post up my version of Girls Alouds Sexy, no, no, no at some stage as it's stoopid. If you get the chance Dweezil and Ahmet Zappas version of Hit me baby one more time and Staying alive are superb..Donny Osmond vocals on SA with some superb guitarists doing solo duties..

:D It`s quite intersesting really over the years that i`ve been on the forum i`m constantly surprised at how many of you young`ens are listening to the  kinds of bands i grew up with. I disagree on other threads posted on this forum players have asked for those that are into the very heavy stuff to respond & the response has allways been very small. This suggests that most of the people on this forum are into Mainstream Metal [ for want of a better word] I believe wholeheartedly that the big push for depressing Metal SOAD, Exodus etc etc was the biggest reason that Metal has been dying on its arse for the last 10yrs. TO has posted articles in the past about this decline.

Death, Black etc etc have done Metal no favours at all infact they`ve tended to play into the long held stereo types the mainstream public had about H/M. The advent of the "Cookie Monster" vocal has only helped to reinforce this view, ie any one who listens to Metal is a retard. This has made it very difficult for more "Normal" Metal bands to get mainstream deals. Which intern means Metal continues to decline. This is one of the reasons i have disliked Dragonforce. A great band with good players obviuose talent P*ss*ng it away by insisting on playing everything as fast as possible, when the truth is they could be so much more.....& better.

As for this cover.....why not all it does is show up how good a band DC are & how much fun there music is. The sad thing is it`ll be the most "Musical" thing the band probably ever plays ! And as for what constitues Death, Black, Speed Metal etc we`ve had these discusions many a time on the boards before & i still dont think any of us are convinced one way or the other or any the wiser !

Must admit loved the sheep version of Dirty Deeds LMFAO !

Fact of the matter is - There are plenty of good Mainstream metal bands, and you can find gems in any genre.

And what bands are "mainstream"? Anyway?

Trivium?..... Trivium? Are there any others?

I was wondering why younger people who are deeply into music (like many on this board) prefer older music, and I think there are quite a few good reasons:
1) Variety. I have 5030 songs in my iTunes (plus that dirty deeds done with sheep video now  ) If they were all Indie and new rave, it would be unbelievably boring- plus very difficult to find 5000 songs in the genre of post-strokesy jingle jangle guitar pop. By listening to a whole bundle of rock genres from the past 50 years, and a good deal of other stuff, I can just listen to my iPod on my shuffle for hours and not get bored.
2) Quality. I don't seriously believe that music was better 20/30/40 years ago than it is now. What's happened over the last 20/30/40 years is that the average stuff has been consigned to the dustbin of history. Obviously, I wasn't there, But I bet in the late 60s, there was an abundance of bands trying to be The Beatles, The Who, The Stones, or the Hendrix experience, who have just fallen by the wayside over the last 4 decades, just like libertines-y indie bands are ten a penny now, but will have totally faded into obscurity by the time the next big scene arrives. I really like van halen, but most of the music in that cheesy 80s thread was, IMO, utter shite, even though it was pretty similiar- Boring, forgettable songs and bands have, appropriately, been forgotten. Time is a much better filter of the brill from the bollocks than the contemporary media.
3) Interest. If music is your hobby, one way or another, rather than Xbox or stabbing people, It's interesting to look through the evolution of musical styles, pick up little nicked licks and lines, copy some of the techniques yourself.
4) makes you look clever. (not a reason to be proud of, but true, let's face it). Not sure about you guys, but in my school there's a bunch of us year 11s who like to compete to find weirder and weirder bands - not just current underground acts, but stuff like this

Any bands today releasing music like this today? not really (if there are, they are thiefs!)
Feline Custom, Fender MIJ mustang bass
Orange rocker 30
VHII and Mississippi queen

:D Yep i agree that on the other thread about the 80`s there are loads of clips of so so bands all pretty generic & unispiring. Your right of course thats why they died without trace & only the old farts on these boards like me remember them !

My point was how surprised i am that so many of the younger guys here are so aware of so many of these bands. Its nice to see !  My point about "Mainstream" Metal was that its become far removed from were it should be & when people talk about it they allways refer to bands like Maiden, Lizzy, AC/DC, Priest etc, bands that have been established for years if not decades. I would have hoped by now there would be alot of new bands out there that the mainstream would be talking about but there not. The Darkness of course proved if nothing else that there is a big audience out there that wants talented fun guitar driven Metal with dare i say it guitar solos in & great songs you can actually walk around singing !

Thanks to whoever posted the Mnemic link - really liking that! :)  As for the covers posted at the top, well, hey ho. It's obviously been done for a laugh, shame it's not that technically good, really...

I see what you mean - You hardly see Lamb of God on Top of the Pops (or anything else for that matter), but that doesn't mean they're not popular in the subtext. Alot of metal bands sell huge numbers of CDs nowadays - Even if they are only mentioned behind closed doors :P

Metallica had a video shown on TOTP once, some of the audience looked a bit shocked, which was good! Metal bands have always shifted huge numbers of Albums, it's always been this way really, probably more so now with the internet.
