Iunno, but something was different. According to Dime, flipping the unit round does something. Apparently one of the blades is hotter than the other and rather than having the hot blade on the treble side, he preferred it on the bass.

the whole image whoring he had before and even worse AFTER his death is pissing me off a bit. Yeah he should be remembered, but should he be remembered as Dean's main marketing feature?

I agree with 99% of the positive comments about Dime but I too find it really disturbing that Dean are using him as a core marketing platform. The extent to which they rely on his image after his death just doesn't feel right.  :?

Nah, they've been around for a good few years - I've had mine at least two (DB-01) and they also sell a DB-02 which is preset to Dime's exact specs while the DB-01 is 100% customisable.

yes this is pretty sickening, but his wife doesn't seem to care!!! She's adopted Trivium and those guys are loving all the Dime gear. I'm not buying what they're a-sellin'.

most of dime branded stuff its utter cr@p anyway, apart from the custom shop axes. (EDIT): IMO

One of the guys here had a deadly black razorback with a gold warpig... now that was pretty "sick" (must spend less time on US based forums).

I like dime he's a legendary guitarist. But I always have to spend first 10 minutes getting used to his tone. And yes I have all the classic Pantera as I am a huge Anselmo fan too. He's a crazy tw@t.

$5000 dean USA customshop Razorback with the burnt rusted metal paintjob.

Worst guitar I've ever played - But very sleek finish.

Just a shame it would cut out bends any bigger than a full step.

I remember, in the time Trendkill came out, many people hated Dime. It was the time of grunge, alternative, no solo's and shoegazers. Now that he's dead, everybody loves him.

Did you know that the Dean ML is sold mostly to depressed teenagers? (according to last month's Guitar World) It's a far cry from the happy, go lucky Dimebag Darrel who made the ML famous.

I have a Washburn Southern Cross (No. 15 of the original US run) which is a superb guitar, the only shame is that I can't play it in the house as it would slam into everything.

Beautifully made and I'm very glad that it was created in his lifetime, so it's not a posthumous cash in.

I wonder if that's because depressed teenagers are irresistibly drawn to the, er, tragic glamour of musicians who died young? (not that Dime was particularly young, really)  Their predecessors 10 years earlier were all listening to Kurt Cobain and (possibly) buying Jagstangs.

That's absolutely right.

I'm neither depressed nor a teenager and an ML is top of my list.

I played one of the Dime guitars and thought it was pretty nice. Only used it through a Line 6 Spider (worst amp ever) so I dont really know how it sounded but the neck was comfy. I just looked like a tit with it on so I would never buy one  Dunno if it was a Dean or Washburn - was the one with lightning like in the 5 Minutes Alone video I think.
