New here. Holy Diver clip
« on: November 12, 2007, 02:24:58 AM »
Hi there. I'm new here. Thought I would post a clip. It's a Holy Diver in my 68RI Les Paul Custom. I got it yesterday and put the pickup in right away. Amp is a Cameron modded Marshall Super Lead. Here's the clip and a pic.

That pickup has definitely the sound I'm after. Nice crisp crunch there and cool clip overall.

Thanks for posting!

It's a good clip, nice feel to the playing, and good tone, it has a good crunch to it.

nice
is it the old ceramic Holy Diver? (maybe you bought it from a store stock?)
sounds different from mine (maybe it's just the amp)

your guitar looks awesome
i'm planning to buy an old lp custom soon
i love how the black nitro finish looses it's shine and gets that beautiful satin look on the 20+ years old les pauls
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

Not sure on the magnet type as I bought it used. And yes, I love the aged loooking LP Customs. Mine is acually brand new. It's an '07 VOS 68RI, and it acually looks like it's from 1968 in person. Very cool. My 57 VOS isn't like that at all.

nice! the classic custom has a beautiful aging too
but i hate that weight relief thing :(
i'd hate to have a light sg feel when holding a les paul

so you bought the pickup from a store?
the old stock holy divers are usually the old ceramic version, which was something like dimarzio super distortion, more crispy than the new ones
if you have the original box and papers, probably the magnet and dc resistance is written somewhere

The 68 isn't the classic custom I don't think. its full weight and seems to have an array of neck sizes available.
Rather expensive I gather

Correct. The Classic Custom is a new model. I tryed one out as a loner while another guitar was being fixed. I really didn't like it. Has a different headstock inlay, really orange colored binding, has a thinner neck, etc, etc.

The '68 is a custom shop guitar that isn't made anymore (limited run in '06 and '07).

But, here's a pic of the classic Custom I was using.

Sounds good, much better than your Rebel Yell clips, which sound a bit too thin imho.

I really liked that clip, sounds great. May I ask what you used to record that clip (mic, interface)?
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Great hard rock tones there mate. Bass guitar would really fill out the low end - I bet it'd sound huge.
