Miracle Man doing Pantera?
« on: November 15, 2007, 04:03:09 AM »
So I'm now in a Pantera Cover band.. Have gotten pretty close to Dimes tone (yea ima huge dimesheep) but i feel like its too thin.. i know he did have a pretty thin tone but i want something heavier so... Dimebags tone and then some... Would the miracle man be able to cover this territory and if not what would do better?

Why would u say the nailbombs are better? and can they do the crazy harmonic jazz that Dime is famous for?
And wouldnt the ceramic vs alnico play a large role as well cuz i know dime used the l 500xl which is a ceramic blade p'up... And im sure any pickup i get here is gonna beat the l500xl cuz ive heard mixed reviews on it and only positive from tims work

Ceramic Warpigs do the harmonic stuff well up to and including Eklundh harmonics and should thicken your tone somewhat. Might be a bit too midsy for Dimebag though...
I too use chicken as a measurement.

the miracle man has a ton more output and bass than the l500xl
but it has a bit similarity with the dimebucker voicing (but not the tone)

dime used a lot of mid boost and parametric tweaking before the distortion (counterbalancing the lack of mids and output of the lawrence), so the painkiller would sound closer to his already boosted tone

i liked my holy diver for darrell sounds more than my ex-miracle man, specially for his leads
but the miracle man is definitely tighter and screams better

So can the miracle man do what im wanting... im not wanting Dimes exact tone just something similiar... good harmonics and tight palm mutes...  Like his tone on steroids a little heavier less tinny and slightly more mids... and a tad less harsh at times

listen to the stuff linked in my sig - that's a miracle man in an Ibanez RG series, through a Peavey 5150-II (don't forget that the amp and speakers will make a huge difference to tone, too!)
