his comparison is quite interesting, I just wonder how fair it is, ie the intonation and fret buzz problems he highlights, is this only related to those particular guitars, or would it be more related to any guitar of that model or even anything by that manufacturer

I'm also curious about string noise test, he says his passive ibanez pickups in another guitar don't make noise when removing your hands from the strings, so why do the seymour duncans make noise and the active EMGs don't?

This doesn't doesn't really answer your question, but i just don't see how he can do a whole 20 minute comparison and not go into fully clean once. The background music gets properly annoying and he says this too: "The volume knob is way too close to the strings." Thats fair enough, but he goes on to say: "One time i played for almost one hour with low volume thinking the pickup had a problem." I dunno about you guys, but whenever i notice the tiniest difference in sound, the knobs on my guitar are the first thing i check. So it sounds like b.s. to me.

Dont mean to slate this guy but after those things his comparison seems less trustworthy. I'd try everything myself :)

hmm, that guy struck me as a bit of an idiot. look at the pic of his 'faulty locking nut' and the action is not low, it is touching the frets!

could never work out what he was doing when comparing the intonation neither, not clear enough.

Interesting watch, for what it was, but a very individual comparison

Oh dear i just looked at his channel and he lists his gear. He has 5 guitars that are not cheap and a 15w line 6 spider. bedroom shredder alert. and also his settings are like this

i cut mids slightly and boost the bass slightly, but treble at 11 is stupid, fizzzzzzzz

I don't see the point in comparing a V and a Superstrat, usually you compare two of the same types from different manufacturers like superstrat vs superstrat

The EMGs presumably don't make noise when removing your hands from the strings because there's no ground wire connected to the bridge - it's not necessary with EMGs.

With passive pickups I'd expect some hum when the strings aren't being touched - surprised he says there's none with his Ibanez.

There are so many variables that make up a guitar it is nearly impossible to do a fair test.

If you picked up two supposedly identical guitars they would be different.
Believe me - I have tried to do it and all the wood was cut from the same planks and everything but the guitars were unique and had their own characteristics. It is part of the organic nature of wood - cant be helped, and also part of it's beauty too.

Even if the two guitars were methodically set up the same by a machine they would be different. It's why players do develop a favourite guitar or find that different guitars make them play differently

Strange sort of review - he spends 20 minutes going on about selected details and says almost nothing about how the guitars actually feel or sound.

And the fret buzz test was annoying - there's "low action", and then there's "dead". :?
