Sorry, I must argue. Footballers DO have talent

those 'injury' scenes are amazing, they do it in one take without a stunt double!

atleast its better than the chavvy type that just cannot accept that its a game

lol premiership is a shitee league, ok then...

now we're on the same page.

if you're trying to suggest that premiership football is of similar quality to international, then you're mistaken. it's a major jump in talent.

spanish and italian leagues are both "better" than the premiership, at least in terms of skill etc., if you ask me- and the vast majority of the most skilful players in the premiership aren't even english.

EDIT: i don't even care less about football, by the way- it's not football which riles me, it's english supporters who don't seem to realise that the fact that they frequently and consistently lurch from one mediocre result to another probably isn't the result of a cr@p manager, but the result of a cr@p team.

Then when you occasionally qualify by the skin of your teeth, you're suddenly talking about how you have a decent shot of winning the thing. Yes, obviously you struggled to qualify, but now you have you have as good a chance as the teams which coasted into the finals. ok.

are you guys watching the same england I am?

EDIT: i realise northern ireland are not an amazing team. but we don't talk about how we're going to win major competitions all the time.

If the Premiership is so cr@p in comparison then why were there 3 Premiership teams out of the 4 teams in the Champions League semi final last season?

Dave I've got to agree that England aren't as good as us English think they are. Definitely.

But imo the Premiership is up there as one of the best leagues in the world.

(smiley noted)

i suppose some might say playng rock guitar is cr@p and pointless... ;) or playing computer games or whatever...

but for many people theres nothing like watching england play in a crowded pub. next summers going to be that bit less good now for many people.

we definately have talented players, good enough to win the european championship (look at greece last time round for example), they seem to be lacking in motivation and strategy though

I am not at all interested in or know much about football but surely this has to have a silver lining. They have to reasses how they do things as these highly paid guys have made a complete cods of the whole thing-they are all responsible-the FA, Coach and the players but more inportantly the guy who cuts the grass at Wembley( and the burger sellers must share the blame to imho)-where we we? oh football thats right. Whatever they are doing, it ain't working so look at how other successful countries do it and copy them-there you go-simple-thread over. :)

...Or you know you could do what Scotland's done. Get a good manager the team likes, alongside a young team with potential and play the best you fricken can.

:D As a dedicated football fan i have to say i agree to some of whats been said. The truth is the Premiership is not technically the best leauge in Europe but its is the most exciting, this is often confused with being the best. The truth is also that our players are i`m afraid inferrior to there European opposition. Here`s a question for `ya Is it not possible that the reason that Arsenal & Man Utd win everything is because they dont play English football but actually both play a European game which is why they qualify in Europe & get regulay into the quater final stages of the European cup ? This means that when they sign players those players get better as a result just look at Arsenal this season, nobody outside of us supporters gave them a hope this season but look where there at in the league & Man Utd are right behind them. Look at Wayne Rooney score regulary at Man Utd but put him in a England shirt playing a traditional hump and run game & he scores very rarely.

I think instead of moaning about "foreign" players coming over here and "stopping" young English/British players coming through, a few English players (S Gerrard for example) should try playing in Spain or Italy and see what it teaches them.

There's nothing stopping them - apart from being too thick to learn the language of course.

that's a moot point- i'm not suggesting the likes of arsenal, man U and chelsea aren't good teams. the top 3 or 4 english teams are pretty good, and could stand up against almost any other team in the world (though it should be noted they have a lot of non-english players ;) )- it's the guys 10th or 15th I'm talking about.

also if the premiership is so good, why almost every time an english player goes to play abroad, are they almost immediately relegated to the bench? and these are the cream of the english players going, not the also-rans from teams near the relegation zone.

+1, generally, though I disagree the premiership is the most exciting- spanish football is pretty good too. :)

+1- the reason english players now try to play anything other than route 1 is the influx of more skilful and sophisticated foreign players who have influenced their playing style. If anything, foreign players in the english league have improved england's team, not made it worse.

Okay I don't want to get too involved in this, but Dave come on... you're being a bit inconsistent with what you're saying...

If they could stand up to almost any other team in the world, that makes them significantly better than "pretty good" in my books...

not really- the top 3 or 4 teams don't mean the rest of the league is any good- plus when you consider the fact that most of the england players are in one of the top 3 or 4 teams... which means they only have to play against quality opposition 4 or 5 times a season... which i still maintain isn't of as high quality as, say, playing against a quality international team.

gah, i don't care. don't qualify for the next world cup and blame the manager again. it couldn't be the players, as they kick ass in the premiership.

EDIT: i sound like i'm getting worked up about this- i'm really not. it's just annoying how you can't see it... every qualifying term you struggle to qualify, and every time you blame the manager, yet don't change any tactics at all.
