help! Do they stick these speakers in with glue or something
« on: November 26, 2007, 05:51:42 PM »
Hi Guys,

we'll, I've recorded my stock clips with the sheffields in my 5150 cab, now I'm trying to take them out. I've undone the screws holding the speakers in place, but the speakers won't budge.  And I mean won't!

There doesn't appear to be any more in the way of screws or bolts holding them in, so I'm trying to work out why I can't shift them. Does it need *more* brute force - I don't want to damage the speakers!??!

Thanks in advance

Roo

Speakers will generally have a sealing ring around where the speaker comes in contact with the baffle. It is sometimes card, sometimes felt, sometimes rubber, perhaps some kind of crazy material. I'm assuming that the speakers are rear-mounted (ie, you're pulling them out from the back of the cab), so i'd suggest trying to pry them off as they are probably just held in by the sealing ring and maybe a little caulk :) Be careful to not put something through the cone though!
