Well after her-who-must-be-obeyed said that the next guitar has to be something akin to the Blue Matteo PRS CU24 I used to have...........

That should sort out the Blue Matteo and my craving for a Strat in one easy go!
I'm gonna go for an all maple neck with the big CBS style headstock, and all gold hardware including gold locking Grovers for the headstock. The Scratchplate I reckon will be look good being a white pearl one with white singlecoils on board. Don't know if I can stretch to something from Tims wonderful stable yet, but any suggestions if I did? Gotta be potent enough to keep up with my mainly vintage equipped Les Pauls

Gorgeous!

But I think you'd ruin it with a Strat headstock - I personally hate them.

I'd go for one of the more modern looking 3-a-sides.

That makes the CBS Fender style ones look small! My reason for going with a proper Fender headstock is just to keep it in keeping with the original, as everything I have has 3-a-side tuners. I personally like the big oversized CBS era Fender Headstocks, so for me it'll be perfect.

That does look very tasty, really like the colour as well... and yeah, nice big Fender style headstock would be gorgeous. Are you going with a Warmoth neck to partner it? My birds eye maple one is spot on for me.

I already have a Mighty Mite neck to partner it to start with, but possibly in the new year sometime I might well partake of a figured maple neck from Warmoth themselves to partner it with.

Allthough i LOVE the 70's CBS headstock, i wont put it on this body, a nitro finished birdseye maple neck with standard headstock would definately finish this wonderfull body. I would consider nickel hardware by the way, it allways seemed to bring out the warm tones on my guitar better as opposed to gold which distracts from the wood IMO. Or maybe black hardware or ehhh even aged gold hardware.... owell hope you get the idea.

The only advice i can give you on assembling the guitar is to make a plan up front so you wont rush it and definately let the neck be attached by a luthier, there are so many dull/lifeless sounding strats around and i think alot is due to poor placement of the neck to the body. Its actually alot more difficult to do correctly then just predrilling a couple of holes and screw the neck on it, the contact the neck makes with the body has to be optimal and that does take alot of experience to get just right.

Attaching the neck won't be an issue.........
My old man is a Master Carpenter and Joiner, so lining everything up prior to drilling the neck will be simple with all the carpentry jigs he has in his workshop.

As for the gold hardware........sorry :oops: I like gold, and her indoors likes gold so gold it'll be. I just think it'll look good with the plain maple neck and is a bit different to all the other normal Fender Strats out there.

I remember seeing you post recommendations for Duncans last night Ed... Nothing wrong with that, just odd they disappeared.

I'm a convert to Slowhands, Mother's Milks are very 'woody', I prefer my pickups to be warmer, something the SH's have in spades. And they are punchy, powerful mofos. Bridge Trilogy is meant to be almost p90 like, according to Tim.

I took advise and removed them. I misread the first post and thought the request was for other pickups because he couldn't afford Bare Knuckle's at the moment.

So I wasn't seeing things! Just worried incase I'm spending too long on the forum I'm actually dreaming about imaginary posts...

As for the guitar in question, it's not my cup of tea... To me the whole point of Fenders is they are bits of wood that are bolted together to make noise, not crafted instruments of beauty... Hence all my guitar's are a solid colour with shiney metal bridges/knobs :P
