Crawler set - melodic metal solos
« on: January 09, 2008, 09:01:30 AM »
Guitar: Epiphone Les Paul "Heritage"
Pickups: Bare Knuckle - Crawler set
Amp: PodXT
Recording info: usb-recorded no afterwork, Cubase, Drumkit from hell.

Crawler bridge: Rythm, solo 1, solo 3,  solo 4(2nd harmonize)
Crawler neck: Solo 2, solo 4

I thought it would be fun to show that the Crawlers can give a nice thick tone for some metal-solo. Didn´t record any bass yet or any mastering, just plain recording. Sorry for some sloppy tones.

Hi Daniel

Nice tasteful playing there, good tones from the Crawlers. Im interested in what they are like in an LP, thinking of swapping mine from my Strat to LP. Pan the rhythm guitar out of the way for the next clip though, so the lead shines through :)

Very nice playing, and as mentioned. Emphasise the lead a bit more, it'll be schweet.

Plus, on a side note, you weren't on MSN were you? I swear I hear the message beep @ 00:17-00:18 for some reason, lol

Thanks for the comments, I will keep them in mind when I do the next recording.

kevincurtis: They are great in an LP. I think they are made for It as well. Its like an LP on vitamins.
By the way, what did you exactly mean with "pan out the rythm" I didn´t overdub the rythm guitar so how should I pan it? shall I alwas overdub and pan them left and right and put the solos in the middle or the otherway around? (pan the solos)

I e-maild Tim and described the tone I was after, and the style I am playing. I also lissened to the Geoff Whitehorn clip and that fat tone was exactly what I was looking for and got!

I shure can recomend them in an LP!

Haven´t been around this forum for some time...

mikey5:
I don´t think that the Crowlers are the ones to nail Zakk´s tone, Crawlers are more fat, midrange and classic-sounding. Zakk´s tone is quite extreme and modern in my opinion. I think the Miracle Man is the right choice for that tone?

He did not ask about Zakk Wylde's tone. He asked about Zakk Wylde playing.

What's the big deal? Using a different pickup wont make you better at legato or playing as such. Good clip though, think what the others mean about panning is when you record the rhythm put that far right for example, then record the leads and pan it leftwards, makes everything a bit more defined.
