Second hand warpigs : are they ceramic ou alnico V?

Hey  :D

I'm about to buy a set of warpigs from a friend of mine.
Problem is that he bought them on a second hand store and doesn't know either the'y re ceramic or alnico loaded :cry:

Where's the difference visually speaking?

PS : they're covered

I don't think there'll be any way of telling without removing the covers.

If you don't have the serial, you could tap the polepieces with a small screwdriver. If one magnet feels stronger than the other, that'll be the ceramic bridge, the other one's alnico V, neck. If they feel the same, they're probably both alnico V. However, +1 to what Ilyti said - the best way would be to install them and listen. 8)

DC resistance is different - search on this very forum. Ceramic one is a bit lower ;)

Didn't know that - I was assuming it would be pretty much the same (like the Duncan Custom, Custom Custom and Custom Five).

Certainly the one with lower DC resistance (if you have a multimeter to measure it) will be the neck pickup.

if the bridge one is ceramic, it's magnet will be thicker and the pickup would look a bit higher than the neck pickup (if they were uncovered :lol:)
