Hey from a newbie... :) - Nailbomb
« on: August 20, 2005, 07:08:59 PM »
Hey BKP forum members…

I’m a newbie here and just wanted to intro myself and say “Hey” to all the people on the board…

I’m Jay…I’m a solo gtr player over here in the UK. Bit of background…I’m a bit of a George Lynch fan (a bit of an understatement!!! LOL), George is my main influence, others include Steve Vai, Steve Stevens and other 80s virtuosos. I’ve worked on various projects over the last couple of year, including a George Lynch Tribute CD, and I’ve been fortunate enough to work with on of the board’s residents, Ben Azaro (hey Ben, how’s it going man?). I have a solo CD called “Strange Day” out at the moment…

Well, I spoke with Tim a couple of weeks ago about some pickups and one thing led to another and I ordered a couple! My first set, a Nailbomb and a Trilogy Suite SC arrived a couple of days ago…I have installed them on my Gajic Custom at the moment, although they sound so damn good that I am tempted to put the Nalbomb into one of my ESPs! I may just have to order another Nailbomb ;)

Anyways, I recorded the attached track over the last couple of days and an intro for myself and to my playing style, etc…I used the Nailbomb for all of the gtr parts. The setup was a Boss DS1 into a Soldano Supercharger into a POD 2.0 for the rhythm. The lead is the same setup but the DS1 is substituted by a Digitech Bad Monkey…

Hope you enjoy the track and looking forward to talking to you guys on the board…

Btw, big thanks goes out to Tim…the pickups are awesome…

That's one hell of a clip! Very nice. PDT_015

The clip has a bit of an Egyptian feel to it. Nailbombs are killer pickups.

Are you planning on doing more clips? I'm wondering how the Soldano Supercharger sounds in front of a good tube amp.

Hey Ben...

So the Lynch influenced name gave me up eh??? Hehehe...Good to be here bro. Thanks for the welcome and props man :)

Hey Steve,

Thanks man...I appreciate the welcome and kind words...

Bird,

Thanks man...recording setup is real simple...guitar > Boss DS1 or Digitech Bad Monkey > Soldano Supercharger > POD 2.0 > M-Audio Delta 44 > PC. I'e been using the same set up for a few years now. Always nails the tone I look for :)

Matt...

Thanks for the welcome...

Ratrod,

Thanks for the porps...The exotic thing is influenced by George Lynch (andmy Indian blood has something to do with it too :p ). The Nailbomb is an incredible pickup man!!! I will be doing some more clips over the next couple of weeks...The Supercharger sounds great in front of a tube amp. I have used it on front of a Marshall DSL50 a couple of times and it breathed fire into the amp...It is basically the Soldano tone in a pedal. I boost it with the DS1 most of the time as it kicks some extra saturation into it to give a smooth Lynch type drive sound. There are some more clips on my website (from my CD) which is the same setup as above (with the DS1 and using a Lynch ESP most o the time (Duncan PUs in those))...

Damn you! I was all set on NOT getting a different guitar to load up with Nailbombs but that clip may have swayed my decision haha. Tone and playing were great!

Bloody wonderful- welcome aboard. BKP forum members kick bottom
( can I say that ?) . Just wait 'til Johnny Mac hears it- there'll be a missing mess in North London. Mrs 38th thought it was groovy too. "Why can't you play like that, you spend enough bloody time trying to play the thing" she said compassionately.

Thanks man! The Nailbomb certainly rocks!!! I'm gonna put it in one of my ESPs either today or tomorrow. That should improve the tone even more...

No worries dude...In the UK Supercharger new is around £400...used on Ebay they go for acbout £200-£250. I picked up a used one in a store in the UK about 5 years ago now for £250...well worth the money. I use it all the time... :)
