Nice, I knew you'd gonna get one after you expressed that GAS some time ago, congrats for a nice acquisition!

The pics on the guitarvillage website are a little better - I assume this is THE guitar that Phil bought:

http://www.guitarvillage.co.uk/product-detail_huge.asp?id=5892&catid=3&quantity=1&manid=83&product=PRS+Mira%2C+Black%2C+New%2C+Inc%2E+Case

I can feel a bad case of GAS coming on now. Hopefully I can hold it until GV's boss gone mad sale in early April!!
I think I hate being indecisive.

.....if you're anything like me you'll get used to the gorgeous neck, perfect intonation, oh and the RESONANCE such that you won't play any of your other squeezes!

Time will tell!  Although this is a bit of a step up from a lot of my stuff, I've been surprised how well some of my cheapo guitars hold up against it - especially my MIJ LP Jrs.  I love those babies!  It's time to unload some gear now that the PRS is on board, though.

The Mira has had fantastic press, and I even like the look. (Even tho it's not a super strat) Nice score!

Thanks Ben, high praise indeed  :D - and I'd guess you're not a fan of PRS in general?

Ha, next time I express some GAS, just shoot me!    But now I really am GAS-free, for a while....

Enough buying, now it really is time to move into the "selling" part of the cycle.  But what am I gonna get rid of?  :?

That's the very one, Ian.  And what a great website they have, it's updated just about every day.

i thought you wanted a natural finish one...?  I like the shape a lot but the natural finish appeals to me more, especially with the black scratch plate.  The one thing i hate about almost all PRSs is that $%&#in bridge, it is so ugly, why can't they just use a tune-o-matic with a string through, that would look MILES nicer.

Yeah, I did want the translucent orange (wasn't keen on the cherry - too Gibson - or brown mahogany - too dull).  But I'm impatient, and it was a case of "a bird in the hand".  Maybe in a year or two if the Mira's successful they'll have some different models and be more widely available, I might get an orange one then...

I'm very fond of wrap-tail bridges personally, I've got 6 or 7 guitars with various types.  I'm equally happy with tune-o-matics, but I do like the simplicity of a one-piece.  The PRS bridge looks a little over-sized to me, but I guess Paul Smith did his usual tinkering to find what he considered exactly right.

I have just got in a from a gig and seen this thread. Nice one Philly. I was looking at one in a shop last week and I loved the look of it  but Mrs 38th dragged me away. Guitar Village is a good place to spend time-I bought my Jap Strat there on impulse.

I want one now.

I'll have to play it first though.

I'd be tempted for a tortoise pickguard for that guitar.

It seems like very versatile instrument, i.e. could be very handy when gigging and a proper musicians guitar rather than a "piece of furniture" guitar. Not that there's anything wrong with those. I have a lot of time for PRS these days.

       HaHa, cheers Nick, but I don't think I'll be totally abandoning the "dark side" anytime soon.  No Artist Packs (whatever they may be), dragon inlays or solid rosewood necks for this ole boy.

I'd have another Mira though!  I seem to be getting into Twinfan's "Noah" mindset.

I like the wrap overs too.  It started with an SG junior 30 years ago, and I was sure that the sound had to come from the fact that the strings are so well anchored.  I have 10 or so with wrapovers (and another 2 on the way!).

I like the look of the Mira's too, though black would be too much like my EG!

I'm always glad you (and Twinfan) are here, Phil, it always makes me feel less guilty about my ludicrous guitar collection!

Yeah, it is reminiscent of the EG in a way, with the scratchplate.

I had an all-black EGIII(?) with the Fralin "domino" pickups, that was a nice guitar.  I'm not sure about the neck joint on PRS bolt-ons, though - the body wood is quite thin at that point.  On mine the neck didn't fit very tightly in the pocket and there were cracks in the finish at the neck joint which I suspect may also have been cracks in the wood.

My EG is a 4 with the HSS setup, though it now has a Crawler and 2 BKP91's.  The neck on mine is a good fit, but the scratchplate is very brittle (Tim got me a new one made which is much better).  I have been avoiding guitar shopping for a bit because there are 3 things I quite fancy, but I already have 4 guitars coming this year (all custom made which is why I don't have exact dates).  Guitar Center have the Faded 59 Les Paul in Tobacco Sunburst for $1,600, the Mira is around $1,500 here and I really like the Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior!

Sorry to keep dragging this thread out (it's not meant to be an ego trip, honest! ), but I had a very quick look at one of those yesterday.

I honestly don't think, apart from probably the electronics, it was any better than my MIJ Epi Juniors.  And they were a third of the price!
