Cool!

Give me some time and I'll get more into it.

I recommend also to check out the vid on guitaplayertv.com, that's a bit more blues oriented ...

Sounds good hunter, but then again most amps you play sound good!

What's the general consensus on the reliability of these new Marshalls?

I was blown away by the VM when I heard Chris George play it at last years music show, it was so sweet.

Nice clip, Hunter.

I'm very tempted by the VMs, possibly the 2x12 with an extension cab.  I have a feeling that with a Blackstar in front of it the potential sounds will be incredible...

Wife!  Let me have some money!!!

Was considering the combo too, but 30 Kg is a bit too heavy for lugging around. The 50W head is comfortable with 18Kg.

Blackstar might be good up front but maybe set with a tad less gain - I find it best with a good basic crunch and then a pedal to just send it over the top.

That's what I was thinking.

How do you find the cleans?  Do you need to back off the guitar volume to get warmth?

Yes. Still need to test in band, but from playing to backing tracks, I'd say getting a good balance is no effort. I have a real nice clean at about half on the guitar, good hardrock crunch or rock lead at full, and great full on lead tone with the OCD added. Wanna try some other pedals too very soon.

If you're in the UK, given that you can have a regular one new for 530 GBP, this is a no-brainer.

Interesting.  Both myself and Martin from Martamp weren't that impressed with the VM.  I've played one and Martin actually owned one for a little while.

It must be horses for courses I guess, and I think you have to appreciate that upper mid/high end sizzle they give?  I prefer a bit more depth to my tone so I think that's why it didn't suit me.

Maybe they've changed the design a bit as well, or got better valves now?  We both played very early ones and yours is a newer one Hunter?  I might have to check one out again to see if I still have the same opinion.....

First one I played I wasn't impressed either. Might have been an earlier one. But also was the 100W and through V30 cab. I think the VintageModern Plus a V30 cab is too much. So you gotta pair this one with Greenbackish speakers and better try the 50 version, as it's a bit easier to play.

But hey, always a matter of taste anyways ... melikey at the moment, but you know me, I am not the most consistent kinda guy with amplifiers.

The silver jubilees are still there but he only uses them for clean sounds now. And he uses VM's and JCM slash's in stereo for his overdriven sound.

There's this cool video on jimdunlop.com where slash's tech talks and shows this guy throw his live rig. Worth checking out.

Read Feline's post  as he is right.

He 'may' use a VM but not that I saw or have heard of ,forget interviews/videos/advertising, that's called 'corporate sponsorship' and if believed (when was still legal) ALL Formula 1 racing drivers smoked cigarettes out the wazoo!

A Slash sig is a modified Jub basically, which is what he got after having to return the rental amps he tried to keep (so as to get close to same tone).

I have said it before and will again. NOTHING is usually as it seem's! When getting paid by a company you have to advertise for ya dinner!
