... not a negative post, as the title might suggest!

I was just flicking through the Players section (wife is at the gym, kids are in bed, Orange is too damn loud...), and I noticed a lack of certain clips.

Loads of Nailbombs, VHIIs and Miracle Men.  But some cilps are hard to find.

For example, not many Crawlers or Cold Sweats (which is a shame, 'cos I really like what I've heard, partic the GW Crawlers).  And you would be really hard pushed to find many Tele set clips.

Is this because (sweeping generalisation - please don't hate me) the majority of posters have a leaning towards the more "metal" side of music, do you think?  Nothing wrong with that, I myself have dabbled in the dark arts at times, when I had youth and hair on my side.  But I'd be interested to know what PUPs sell the best.

I reckon that Nailbombs have to be close to the top of the list.

Mark.

I don't see many Emerald or Abraxas clips - I've got a feeling the Em's could be quite a cool set in my Explorer (GAS strikes again).

Here you go. It's a Bluesy type clip and the playing isn't the best but it'll give you an idea of Emerald pickups.

There are quite a few BKs that dont get much attention on the boards.

But I dont know what they are!!!!

I'm sure I've seen a product list thats longer than the list tha comes to mind when I think of BKs, anyway. So there MUST be more!

(I'm a one of the metal guys you mention!)

Yeah, i was looking for some slowhand clips but found none, zero. And i remmeber there being a clip and it was right up my street!

When oh when will tim get around to having clips of all the pups on the main page? surely then the lesser mentioned pups will shine through.

Certainly the Abraxas is under-represented - the neck model has started getting some attention but the bridge model certainly doesn't.

The Emerald was almost totally ignored until recently, but it's been getting a higher profile, largely thanks to Mr Machinehead.

And single-coils generally aren't heard or discussed as much as humbuckers.

To return to the original question, I think there are an awful lot of metal players on the forum.  I love that kind of music myself (or at least the stuff we called metal 25-30 years ago), but I prefer "classic rock" guitar sounds.  I'd love to do some clips, but my playing isn't up to it (and my recording skills are non-existent).

there are many more clips of the cold sweat neck than there are of the bridge pickup.  hopefully when I put my set into my guitar I'll be able to redress the balance a bit

Someone (other than myself who lacks the talent) who can express the good sides of pickups, like the Abraxas or something should submit it to Tim and maybe he'll sticky it.

Will save him time trying to record it and all, I'm sure he's uber busy.

Perhaps when the new website is revealed there will be more "pro" clips of the whole range?  Or maybe Tim could run a competition - the best and most diverse clips make it to the main page!!!

Yee-Haw!  It's s Guitar-Off!!!

We could also do a 'Forumers BKP clips thread' in which you can find at least a clean and dirty clip on all BKP pickups. Should be someone of the team who puts it together though, at least i think it should be good quality clips so some selection process is in order i guess.

Now I know that this topic has been kicking about for a long time but I think Tim would certainly increase sales of BKP's with a sample page of all the pickups.

I've no dougbt that he is mega busy but the benefits of getting someone into do it would seem to be worth it, from a purely financial point of view and also from a professional stance.

I'm not pro Seymour Duncan (obviously  :D ) but the sample page on their site is spot on for deciding what pickup you want to buy.

I'll stress that I'm not knocking Tim - far from it. I'm sure he wants something like this as well. All I'm saying is  ... bite the bullet and get someone in to do it?

/em puts on flame retardent underpants  :P

As far as I'm aware, an updated website with more "formalised" clips and detailed pickup specs is already in the works, and has been for some time.

It may seem a bit like the new Guns n' Roses album, but even that is supposed to be coming soon.
