Is there an easy way of getting hold of these things, or is it just Ebay?

And when are you selling the sunburst V Phil

No plans to sell the sunburst V just yet, Will.  I think in some ways it's the best of my Edwards guitars, great sustain and the neck shape is just perfect.  Even the Duncans sound good.

I did just sell the sunburst Potbelly though, it was stupid buying two identical guitars.  That's GAS for you.

Ebay or Ishibashi.  You used to be able to get them from Ikebe, but I don't think they ship outside Japan any more.

Ok ... I'm going to bite here, with a few questions.

1. What's so good about Edwards guitars?

2. Is the Edwards LP better / worse / the same quality as a Gibson LP?

3. Where's my sandwich?

In regards to mine, the only one i've tried;

1. They're light, lively, resonant, come with very high quality components, gorgeous finishes, put together incredibly well, with good factory set-ups, and they're relatively inexpensive.

2. My Edwards LP stands head and shoulders above any Gibson LP I've ever tried (which has to be 15 or more). It may be that I've never owned a gibson, and therefore i've never set one up to my taste with my choice of strings etc. but as far as i can tell this edwards is put together far better than all of them put together, it is a lot more of a manageable weight (not too heavy, but not too light), and it has better quality pickups than stock gibsons.

3. i ate it.

I heard some interesting news about Edwards guitars recently.  Apparently.....

1)  The necks and bodies are made in China or Korea
2)  The guitar is assembled and finished in Japan
3)  As over 60% of the work in building the guitar is done in Japan, it can still be classed as "Made in Japan"

That would explain how they keep the pricing as keen as they do......

doesn't matter! they're fantastic!!!!

EDIT: but yeah that is interesting - would make sense too.
My friend emailed ESP a while ago to ask about Edwards guitars, and the email he got back from them, among other things, said that he should think of Edwards as on a par quality-wise with the guitars branded 'ESP', but producing mainly Gibson copies only for the japanese market. Surely ESP can't be doing this with all their MIJ models?

Where did you hear that Dave?  It doesn't surprise me really (or bother me), given just how cheap Edwards guitars are.

By the way, none of my Edwards guitars actually say "Made In Japan" (unlike my MIJ Epiphones).  I've just always understood that's where they were made.

It was discussed on the Tokai forum, where a local Japanese guy who knew people at ESP mentioned it.  Someone else agreed with him too.

Interesting huh?

Here's a pick I put up of my 130 relic lemon drop:

I can only agree with the comments above, really resonant, big fat bottom, really well set up, great neck...almost too easy to play...happy chappy :)

They certainly appear to be a capable guitar, although I'm not sure I'm ready to swap my Gibson LP for one just yet.

Never played an Edwards before but if they are as good as you guys are saying, than this is quite a deal.

The Grass Roots range is a bit downmarket from Edwards, they're made in Korea I think, but I don't know the specifics.  Still looks a good price.

Yup, just noticed that it wasn't an Edwards. I saw that the item location was in Japan and Edwards was in the title description and just assumed it was an Edwards.
Nonetheless, looks like a good price.

mine doesn't say MIJ either, but a second-hand one I tried in a local shop did, on the back of the headstock (i think).

the electronics would need a swap, and I'm no fan of the bridge JB, but other than that, I'd prefer it to a gibson. the fact it's about a third as much...
