What pickups do I need?
« on: March 07, 2008, 08:16:34 PM »
My first post  :sing1:

I need bright, big, gainy, highly focused, tight, very open, uncompressed sounding humbucker set. Not over the top output - minimum amp overdrive. Which one of BK offered sets do you think would suit me best?

Cheers
Andrius

VHII or Rebel Yell from what I hear.  But I'd wait for the more experienced members to post. :wink:

Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

The guitar is yet to be built :D
I’m thinking:
Definitely bolt on neck;
Basswood, alder or swamp ash body;
Definitely hard maple neck with rosewood fretboard;
Baritone scale – definitely not shorter than 27”.
Not sure about the string quantity though  :wink:

I like my guitar being versatile. Most of the time I play detuned modern, aggressive, hard&heavy metal, but sometimes I’m in a mood for Hendrix-Page kind of stuff, or even some no name jazz, thus clean tones, clarity and articulation is important.

Currently I play thru Fender Prosonic high gain amp into 1x15 ported cab, but that may change.
