Hmmm

You said you weren't looking for a thin neck ... and like 60's Gibson necks?

Confused  :o

Gibson 60s were fatter than Nez' at least. And Jacksons would be in between. Just thinking where are Schecters.

I had a quick look and it would seem Schecter haven't published them.

The Schecter forum had this thread going for it.

Schecters are absolutely amazing guitars, at absolutely amazing prices. They're one of the only companies that seem to take note of the exchange rate, and as such are infinitely better value than the LTDs, Ibanez's etc. Brilliant guitars - Brilliantly built, look fab, great hardware -Tick every box.

Now just waiting for the jeff loomis 7 string to make its way to England....

Either that or I buy one when I'm in the states in April...

On the exchange rate, well it's not really anything to do with Schecter's pricing, it's just that Soundcontrol import them themselves, so there's no distributor to pay.

As for a Jeff Loomis model, you will need to special order it through Soundcontrol or buy one outwith Britain. There are no plans to buy any in as stock, I know because I asked the Guitar Buyer of Soundcontrol last week.

Now, for the thread starter, in terms of value for money they're hard to beat, none of them really appeal to me, but if you want that kind of guitar then they're a great option.

I took it to mean the same as my LP Classic neck. It starts of slim, or narrow,  at the 1st fret and gradually widens up to the 12th.

I wonder why Schecter don't publish the dimensions?

Don't know.

But I think the Gibson Les Paul Classic is AMAZING! If I had the money I'd buy one already! I played one on Monday and it was B-E-A-UUUUUTY.

Yeah the Classics are really nice and the tapered necks are fun to play as well.

I know you said that you don't like going for second hand but there are some decent deals on LP Classics on ebay. Some Gibson Double Cuts  and Studios have the same 60's neck - and Flying V's, if I remember right.

IThen it hit me, Schecter! And then I looked up the prices and they were SO low. Story behind this?

they aren't very nice? I'm not much a fan to be honest.  any of the ones I've tried, anyway.

if you can get up to £700 you can do a lot better if you ask me.

Ibanez

Because their quality control on budget-mid stuff has been embarrasing competetors for a few years now (they've gone from some of my least favourite guitars, bar their late 80s stuff, to some of my favourites pretty quicjly)

Saw one of these in Soho Soundhouse.

It's a thing of GREAT beauty, IMO.

I have an EC-1000 with bkp Black Dogs in it so of course i'm going to be biased and say get that :P  However i got myn for £400 including hard case and shipping off Ebay, they are pretty expensive new.

My opinion on the Schecter issue is that yes they are cheap and nice to look at but when i played some they just felt cheap, plasticy and tacky and not something they i can see anyone using in the long run.

Schecters are OK, but they aren't the best VFM, indeed, once you're into the price range where they're genuinely decent guitars, the competition is extremely fierce.
Here's a good, cheap one you haven't listed.

The Jeff Loomis model is available from Thomann, but TBH it's pretty overpriced. It can't genuinely be worth £200 more than the C7. Schecter's 2008 catalogue has a hardtail model, which could be interesting.

OK, rechecked and it's only £70 more than the Hellraiser FR (I was thinking of the Blackjack price), so not too bad, although more than I'd pay for it really.

I agree, I recently tried a couple of Ibanezes in the 300-400 euro range, and they felt amazing! Played them first and then had a look at the price tags, I was positively surprised.

That dean is rubbish.

The bridge is awful, and the guitar just feels like a toy.
