Read the 18 pages of sound clip and...

I'm sur of it, I'll buy a BR pickup...  8)

But I'm kinda disapointed, in first I was seraching for P-90, and all those sound clip make me think about buying a HB!  :P

I want to change the pickup on my Gibson Melody Maker, and want a harsch sound, very hot, vintage but modern (love the paradox).

It has been 15 days I listen EVERY DAYS those sound samples (so a big thanks at those who record them), but I'm lost...

Thinking about the mule, and also Steve Steven's (but I'm not objective cause I'm lovin him...), or BKP... can you help me?

I want a dirty, hot and with a good clean pickup!

For a hot, heavy, vintage (but a bit modern) pickup with a good clean, what can I chose? :?:

So I think CS if you want more vintage, with a bit of modern,
or NB if you want mostly modern, with a bit of vintage sound.

Thanks for your quick answer, I have listened to Nailbomb and CS samples again, especially, a band Wolflaw who play on CS et and stunning version of Lez Zep rock n roll with Nailbomb...

The sound is like what I a described, so thank for understanding me  :) , but when I listen to them, It seems like it miss something, like a warm, or a personnality, I don't know, the fact is I'm not totally satisfy!  :P

Maybe the description is not good, I think it missed some warm...

So have you got any other suggestion?

The Cold Sweat has ceramic magnets, so perhaps this accounts for the 'cold' feeling you get from it?

From what you say Rebel Yell could be the way to go for you.

Yup, I already have a guitar with ceramic, and you're right, I think the cold impression I have is beaucause of that ceramic...

I have listen to another Rebel Yell sample... I'm really disapointed, cause I LOVE the tone, but I'm frightened that beacause I Love Steve Stevens... I don't want to do a mistake (no money, I'll sell a guitar for buyin it)

A sample with a guy who play brother in arms of knopfler have really stunned me... Just because I'm a fan of knopfler and the sound was better (if you can be better  :lol: ) than knopfler...

It seems that it's the perfect pickup, huge rock n roll sound with Higain, lovely-smoothy crunch, and a beautiful clean...

I just think of buyin it, is will be good on mahogany wood? Have you listen to the myspace of my band, will they be good for my gear?

My head Sovtek Mig 60 sounded like a Plexi/JCM 800...

I think that clip was an Emerald bridge with a mule neck. The Emerald sounds quite right for what you're describing. Vintange-y but hot and dirty, a bit bright but with the warmth of alnico.

But if this is for a Melody Maker, why not go for one of the BKP-90s? You mentioned you like Knofler's tone and (IMO) he sounds best with his P-90 Les Paul. Talk to Tim about it, maybe he can wind you something that's hot and bright.

That's a decent description of an Emerald bridge pickup - in a mahogany/maple cap Les Paul body. I'm not sure what effect an all mahogany body would have, compared to a mahogany/maple cap LP body. It may be that the brightness is reduced a little?

except for the "very hot" bit i would have suggested some sort of P90 also. BKP do something called the Pig-90 - a warpig inspired P90. If you dont want to rout your guitar, it might be something to think of.

Hi!

The sample was with a Rebel Yell, that's why I think they're really versatile, and I think of them for my guitar... but I'll need to do a "trapping" (don't know if the word is correct, in france we call that a "défonce"), so many modifications to my guitar...  :x

The problem is there is not many post with BKP 90 samples, so I don't know if they will be good for me...

Knopfler sound is at his best with his les paul, I'm agree with that  

I'll listen to more emerald samples too, this pickup have not take all my intention at first impresion, but I'll take my ears at their samples  :P

A friend of mine will have black dog soon, so I'll try them by myself too...

and I'll listen to those Pig-90, is anyone of you have sample with BKP 90?

and do you know the difference between BKP 90 /91 /92 ?

I've listen to the emerald pickup, and this is too vintage for me  :?

I listen the P-90 pickups too on the sample page, but can't clearly listen to a sound next to what I search! Is anyone have those pickups, and can do sample with solo like you can hear on the brother in arms sample?  :P

I wondered if those pickups will sound in my guitar?
