Hi guys,
Thanks for taking the time to read my (long) post. I'm in that typical newbie position of not knowing where to start choosing a pickup. I'm an old hand with Duncans, but I need your advice to help me get into BKPs, especially as they'll be a hefty investment for me. I'm looking for two humbuckers to replace the '59s in my Eclipse 2. I emailed Tim, and he suggested a calibrated Mule set, but I'm wanting to try to make sure I make the right call first time... I'm sure you all understand.
I'm a Pink Floyd fanatic, so a priority for me is achieving that Floyd tone (which I know is hampered by not using single-coils); but I also play a bit of classic rock in the vein of Bob Seger, and I'm quite fond of fingerpicking. It's really, really, important to me that the pickups are balanced to give a useable split tone, and that the bridge are shades apart rather than world's apart. I like to use the split position for more punchy cleans, and for fingerpicking (to give that bit of extra attack).
Bridge Pickup: I prefer pickups with a bit of character (like SH12s) as opposed to super-clean sounds like, say, a Dimebucker. Heat isn't a major concern for me, as long as it's a bit hotter than the neck.
Neck Pickup: I prefer a bit of a cleaner pickup (like a '59) in the neck, but I find Jazzes far too warm...
Anyways, I hope I haven't included too much extraneous info, and thanks heaps in advance for your help and suggestions :)
