Indie IAS620 Two Tone Semi Acoustic - Anyone tried it?
« on: March 26, 2008, 09:06:16 PM »
I've been looking about for a second guitar, to run alongside my LP.

I've been mulling over a few choices, an Edwards LP being one option, but I kept my options loose and had a look about various guitar stores today.

After trying a few makes and not finding anything outstanding for my £400-500 budget, I spotted a black Indie IAS620 Two Tone Semi Acoustic.

It looked nothing special but I decided to try it anyway, as I remembered reading something about Indie guitars being well regarded by their owners. I plugged it into a Fender HRDX and ... WOW  :o

The tone was awesome! Bluesy, crunchy and warm - and that was just in the middle position. The neck was even better and the bridge setting had a nice edge to it, for leads.

It was very easy to play and had a slim neck, similar to my Gibson LP Classic 60's neck. I have to say I was very impressed indeed. It outshone all the other guitars I tried, like Epiphone LP, Schecter C1, Ibanez (various), PRS SE etc.

Has anyone had any experience with this, or any other Indie guitar?

Piccie here.

The pups in it sound very good but I was thinking a Mule bridge/SM neck combo maybe?

I seem to be the only Indie owner on this board. Hopefully not for long.

But I like my Indie guitar. Alder/Maple Top, I play cleans, distortion, sometimes with tons of effects (phaser, flanger, wah, etc.), even tried some country, etc. etc. and I love it.

But that's my Indie, and it's a solid-body.

I give 5* for Indie.

That's a bute!  Though i would prefer to have a single cut archtop for myself.

@ Jonny: that guitar is gorgeous!  I wouldn't mind one like that... only if you subtracted all the abalone  :P  Also, what kind of covers are those on the pigs? Distressed?

I asked for camo, but whatever Tim did I love it, lol..

I love this guitar, simple controls, coil-tap (check side of body picture) and it's sexy, hehe.

They do seem to be hard to find. I was very impressed by the build quality - particularly the neck of the semi I played.

The pickups were also a revelation. Far better than other guitars in that price range. They made the Epiphone pups sound like cheap Chinese knock offs .... Oh wait

Neil is an absolutely awesome player and that guitar looks the business but when I saw him live he would often fall back on his trusty Maverick signature SAS model.
I would have seen him again but the show was postponed and I couldn't go  .
Those look to be fantastic guitars and I really like the recessed controls but I would rather have rollers...
I too use chicken as a measurement.
