Series Wiring
« on: April 11, 2008, 06:15:41 PM »
I have a Strat with 3 single coils, currently wired as standard, giving the following.

1) Bridge only
2) Bridge and middle in parallel
3) Middle only
4) Middle and neck in parallel
5) Neck only

I never use the bridge/middle combo, so I want to wire it in series to increase the range of options I have, but I've looked at various diagrams etc. and am still not entirely sure how.

Currently the black wire from each pickup goes to ground, with the white wires to the selector switch. As I understand it, I need the white from the bridge wired to the black from the middle, but then what? Do I wire that to the bridge position on the selector, and if so is it grounded?

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick, and thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

you can't wire like this using standard 5-way strat switch. you would need a double wafer switch (aka superwitch).
