So I finally got around to getting a new amp. I traded my Laney for.....A Laney:lol:.

I got a VC50 (traded with Crazy_Joe for my VH100R) and I'm pretty happy with it. Needs some new pre-amp valves so I can sculpt my own tone. It also came with Celestion Classic Lead 80's. Not too sure if I like them yet. They're kinda 'fuzzy' sounding in the high end but that might just be me, as I'm used to the darker sound of my 4 x 12 cab.

Just going to ask though, which speaker is the best all rounder? something that doesn't have so much emphasis on the highs so much, has a tight low end and a sweet midrange. Basically, something to tame a bright amp and make it roar a bit more.

mmm, well I'm pretty sure the Celestion G12K-100 fits this bill - it's dark, handles the low end exceptionally well, and has superb grind. Not a huge mid-range though, so doesn't sound like V30s (just in case you're into their sound).
