Just watched the last ever episode of Breaking Bad. Classics, classic stuff! I can't believe it was all a dream. What a twist!
When Walt kills Jessy with Rosebud thinking he was actually dead the whole time...man that was heavy.

In all seriousness though, I just watched the last episode (actually did the last 4 binge style) with a very good rum, a beer that tasted like mandarin (only from hops) and some handmade cheddar cheese and caramelized onion chutney.
I canīt quite reflect on it yet, right now I have some deep thoughts which I wrote down which will hopefully turn into lyrics.

Right now I do feel though that for example The Sopranos and also Scrubs (two series I loved) ended better. Donīt wanne seem too negative here, it was a very worthy and well done end, but the other two I mentioned felt like they reached a higher level.

Just saw Pain & Gain, thought it was really good actually and way better than I thought it would be!

Evil Dead

I'd heard that the re-makers had taken a totally different approach, without all the humour of the original, and I wasn't sure how it would work.   It does work, pretty well - very brutal and bloody, and well made.... but not actually very scary.

I always saw the Evil Dead as the warm up for the original remake that was the Evil Dead 2...  Far superior film, great humour, loads of gore. The tone was perfect on that one. Not sure I'm bothered for a remake that throws all that away and just does another cabin in the woods straight horror.

On that note, I really enjoyed the film Cabin in the Woods. Another with off-kilter humour.

I thought Cabin in the Woods would've been much better if they hadn't given away the "twist" until (much) later in the film.  As it is, it's well done but not at all scary because you know too much about what's really happening.

I know certain people who would get very worked up if you call Evil Dead 2 a remake rather than a sequel!   Personally, I tend to agree with you.

The Evil Dead remake is worth watching though, it's well above average.

I know people like this too!

I remember 1 relatively long, and rather drunken, debate I had with a 'movie buff' friend of mine about this. I'm firmly in the camp of seeing it as more or less a remake, whereas he sees it as a sequel. How we managed to stretch this out to almost an hour still baffles me to this day

I never got around to watching Cabin In The Woods based mainly on the awful review my friend mentioned above gave it. I might give it a chance, see how I get on.

I've watched a fair few films lately but the only 1 that was new to me and not a re-watch was Troll Hunter. I really rather enjoyed it! I'm glad they brought the trolls in as early as they do though, I was starting to get a little bored at the start if I'm honest. How 'good' the FX were I wouldn't like to say, but they worked for what I picture in my head when it comes to the idea of Trolls

Excellent film, now, sadly, being subjected to yet another pointless American remake.

Watched Gangsters, Guns and Zombies and Grabbers last night. Similar movies, british horrors in the vein of Ladykillers etc... both were very funny, and terrible in equal measure - just how I like it.

Watched Iron Man 3 last night and I thought it was absolute shitee. Couldn't get into it at all and its further increased my dislike for inredibly average comic book films that everyone seems to love

Troll Hunter is AWESOME.

Reminds me that I need to get that one bought so I can re-watch it.

It's the middle of the London Film Festival so I've been seeing lots of films this week.  It's been pretty good so far this year.

Also watched (on Blu-ray) Chernobyl Diaries.  It was alright.

Just watched The Perfect Host. Great simplistic thriller, very close to being a great and tense stage play. The acting and style made for a great atmosphere.
That alone made for a very good movie, but the little twists and turns made it great. Donīt worry itīs no Shamalan (the were dead all along) stuff, just reveals advancing the story, characters and general development, which to me felt perfect as it gave you another angle and turned things without being ridiculous. Very fitting.
Plus David Hyde Pierce is amazingly good. I only really knew him as Niles from Frasier, but here he really got to show what he is capable of. Wonderful work on his part.

It was also very humorous in a lot of places, but in a nicely bleak sense.
If you like thrillers about characters with a good portion of psychology I can really recommend this.

Last night, whilst on a loooooong train journey back from Scotland, I watched Lincoln. I really really enjoyed it. I liked that it wasn't a sprawling biopic of his life and 'just' focused on his last 4 months. Highly recommended if you like that sort of stuff!
I think I hate being indecisive.

Just watched Primer.
Has to be the most confusing movie I have ever watched. My mind is racing, tripping over itself and about to explode right now trying to grasp what was going on.

Basecally it is a low budget time travel thriller. If you are into that kinda stuff, this is great, but you gotta be prepared to work for the enjoyment, it is no sit back and relax movie by any means.
