Machine Girl was ok I guess. Bit of a comedown after Tokyo Gore Police.

Well into the last season of Battlestar Galactica. Has been worth watching, although I can honestly say I don't mind if any of the characters die, which indicates to me that the character building has been poor. This could be due to the numerous amount of characters though. Some of the episodes can be quite a slog and there seems to be a fair few episodes which are entirely fillers and contribute nothing to the main plot. I much preferred Stargate Universe, which despite having a pretty weak storyline I found to be more entertaining.
I am happy I started BSG though and I am eager to find out who the last of the final 5 is  :D

I thought BSG was excellent. The spin off Caprica was shite.

It is excellent, I guess there are just a few things which bug me about it.

Just watched The Hobbit and can't help but feel I've just wasted 3 hours of my life.

Just watched The Hobbit and can't help but feel I've just wasted 3 hours of my life.

Part 2?  I saw it over Christmas, couldn't get into it at all for the first half hour (partly because I haven't seen part 1 yet) but after that there was enough going on to hold my attention.

I am hugely disappointed by the way Peter Jackson has lost any ability to self-edit or show any degree of restraint in his films, but if nothing else they do look spectacular.

I do get annoyed with the way all the action scenes contain endless sequences of collisions, falls, explosions, rope-swinging etc, all of which might be survived maybe 1 time in 1,000..... but in a Jackson film nobody ever misses that ledge or gets hit by that falling debris.  I know it's only a film, but it's too stupid and it's too much.

I also saw 47 Ronin over Christmas.  It's a bit dull and they can't seem to decide if they want to make a sombre samurai film or a dumb action flick, but I don't think it's as bad as the reviews have suggested.

Sushi Girl - Really rather excellent, ultra low budget grindhouse stylie film. Tony Todd and Mark Hamill (yes, you read that right), being the stand outs where TT is just menace personified and MH is creepy as $%&#.

Errm, quite nasty... You have been warned!

As always late to the party, but just watched "A Good day to Die Hard" on Netflix and loved it. Really, really cool action movie. All out mania, just the right amount over the top for my taste. And the sidekick was actually good too, much better than the last one. If you are in for shooting, explosions and chases with not much pretending this comes recommended!

This weekend I watched I Spit On Your Grave 2.  It's better than I expected, but pretty pointless.

Finally watched both Taken movies and loved them. Talk about a good, entertaining action movie!

Unthinkable was interesting. At times it seemed more about showing torture but I felt it became really intense story and coflict whise because of this later. And Sam L Jackson as the interrogator was really good. If you like thrillers and can sit through the gory parts (which seem a bit pointless at first) go for it!

Doomsday was a really weird film, but kinda cool. It is derived from a killervirus scenario where someone goes looking for the cure in the old wasteland, meeting different factions. Very cool mix, some cool action and deffo a big 80s throwback in my mind. I liked it!

I watched it over the weekend.  Most of the time I was not liking it at all, thinking it's not much more than torture porn.... but then the plot wraps up so neatly at the end I decided I actually quite enjoyed it.  Mark Hamill is really good in it (although I didn't even recognise him at first).

I've recently watched Wolf of Wall Street and 12 Years a Slave. Both were utterly tedious. I lasted for 30 minutes of Gravity and could take no more. If this is the best we can come up with these days I'll give up watching new films.
