That is an excellent song from the terrific Glenn Hughes/Joe Lynn Turner album. The guitarist on that track is the inimitable John Sykes, and I think the guitar tone is A W E S O M E !!!!

Will the Cold Sweat bring me into that fat, saturated type gain? Will it work that way in the alder bodied guitar I'm putting it in, or does it have to be in mahagony to get that kind of tone?

I would appreciate any info you can give!!

Well it's not his LP doing all the whammy stuff, it's the same axe he did 'Is this love' with..............the OD saturation is care of his standard hi gain rig which, if memory serves, is a pair of MKII Boogies split in stereo with a chorus.
The Cold Sweat neck will do that singing fluid tone and the CS bridge should get you into the solo tone ballpark which definately sounds like his Ebony LP Custom.
Alder is tighter grained and brighter and your trem will effect it too but I really think you'll get pretty close, especially if you wack the bass up full ala Sykes and show the gain knob no mercy :D

Andyaxis has got a bullseye Strat he's had made for him, let's hope he comes in on this one.

I can't help thinking that it may be overbright for Alder AND Maple/Ebony or solid Maple combo..............anything is going to be really bright sounding on that, moreso a ceramic powered humbucker. It'd be interesting to hear Andy's comments.
My thoughts would be to stick with an Alnico V as it's not so clinically efficient as a ceramic.I'm thinking an A5 Miracle Man......
DeMartini was a big JB and Holdsworth player in his day....not sure what he's using now.

Covering up will help though..........it's going to be an interesting one :D

I'm getting in a cold sweat thinking about pimping up that very cheap Richwood LP with CS! I just hope the thing can do the pups justice!

You think that may be true of my guitar, as well, Tim?
I was just going with the pickup recommended by you from thread http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=720
