hmm.. maybe if I sell my 360 and camera I'll be able to afford one   Any takers? :P

Don't sell the Camera!

By the way, which Grados are those? SR80? How are they?

How leaky are they?

I've got kinda bored of photography at the minute, I can never find anything worth taking photos of :(

The headphones are indeed SR80s and they leak quite a bit.

Grados are pretty much just like having speakers attached to your head - if leakage is at all an issue, they are not for you.
The SR80s are fantastic! I also have some SR325i's, but the SR80s still get more head time, as they're just so much fun! Especially for 'rock' genres of music.
LOVING the Mules!

Saw a black Tokai SG in Cash Convertors yesterday- looked pristene and they wanted about £170 for it. Have CC made an arse and listed a good guitar for a temptingly small price?

Looked like a standard SG- small black scratchplate and covered humbuckers. I felt a little temptation for something that cheap...

Depends which model it is.  If it's a Japanese one it's a steal, but it's more likely a Korean one, or maybe a Chinese one like this:

At the moment its a toss up for me between a pair of Grado SR80s or AKG K271s, since the 271s have been discontinued for a new mark II model, I can get them for £80.

The Grados are open back, and are meant to sound amazing, but if they're too leaky I'll get the AKGs, which are closed back.

Anyone have any experience with the AKGs?

I think SGs would be perfect if they had a stronger neck joint (not that I've seen problems on any mates guitars, but heard so many horror stories..), and had the strap button on the top horn, I really dont like having it on the back.

thats why the SG i am putting together soon is a through neck and has a recessed dunlop strap lock hidden behind behind the top horn!!!.... as well as a few other little tricks to make sure it balances really well despite having a 24 fret, 25.5" neck

this is what i was planning to do for my next build Wez!!!  YOU STOLE MY IDEA YOU bar-steward!!

just to show how this works:

recessed dunlop strap lock

the front view:

the guitar still feels a little neck heavy and its noticeable when sitting down

but bearing in mind this has particularly light body wood and a longer neck than a gibson i dont think the balance on a strap could be much better

might as well throw in a shot of the neck join as well

Love the neck joint, not so sure about the straplock button, it looks odd to me.  I've no problem with the normal strap button location, but I know it would defeat the object of that neck joint.

That looks awesome wez :) My strat gas has kinda subsided now (unsurprisingly   ), I'd love one of those SGs!

I can just imagine it with a satin finish and some distressed pig-90s :o

i never like the tilt forward that leads to... anyway, it always had to be on the top horn - this just seemed the best way to do it without ruining the outline

Are the 271s sealed (or however they called it when you've bascially got pretty serious hardshell cups over your ears) or just closed back?  I've got AKG K240-somthings, which are closed (or at least not open) back, but at the volume I playback while recording  they leak a bit anyway.  Not enough that I really care for my purposes, but enough that I notice it.
