I still haven't heard enough Emeralds to really get a good feel for what's going on with them, though its always been my impression that they're relatively fat and powerful. Still ... if if the VH-1s are doing it, I think the Crawlers would go a bit farther to adding definitive oomph.
I've got Crawlers in a Gibson LP Std, and you can really make things roar with them, though that vintage vibe is still omnipresent present. Very versatile and effect pups, IMO. They've got a bottom which is pretty much waht you would expect from a hot PAF, though more mid-range than a real hot PAF (like an Abraxas) would have -- and in my (not actually very expert, but hey) opinion I think that's a feature that would go a good way to adding meat to the tone of the slightly thinner (physically) Burny.
