I'm not so sure it is good to compete as playing is so subjective anyway. I like the informal atmosphere here. Competition can be intimidating for some. Showing off your BKP's is what it is about to let others see what can be done by the ordinary mortals that we are- using gear that we can all pretty much get our hands on. It would really scare me off cos I am a bluesy kinda player. The most important thing to me is feel and that can be done with one note...thats my excuse anyway.

That would be the great thing. If people post backing tracks that other people feel uncomfortable playing over such as blues and jazz tracks it will help people learn different styles.

I didn't mean that people should feel uncomfortable. Playing stuff that is out of your normal box is great as long as you enjoy doing it and therefore gain from it.What I meant was that this should be about feeling confident about posting without feeling that you have to out do someone else. We are all from different backgrounds and have different tastes and experience. The great thing at present is that we have common ground and, hopefully, a healthy respect for our fellow forum bros. Thats not to say we can't express an opinion it is just that we are demonstrating BKP's in different environments. If people have backing tracks for others to play over then that is great. I love the different posts from the different perspectives of different players. I don't always like them but I do like hearing what people get out of thier BKPs. I do waffle don't I?

I understand where your coming from. I suppose we should just leave it for now and see how it goes. So far though i have loved how this backing track has gone, everyones takes have been really interesting for me, and helped me look at the backing in a different way.

I hate to sound negative about your playing, but I did not really like the solo.

After reading the comments I expected something else.

Wonderful technique, but mostly not very musical. I guess it's just not to my taste. Some good effects ideas though.

I am not really impressed by fast playing.  I can play quite fast, but do not prefer to do so.

I will put one up soon, so....

For the style of music on the backing track his playing is spot on and fits the track perfectly.Surely you can appreciate that?

for everyones information shredding = malmsteen, rusty cooley, michael angelo, paul gilbert, herman li, luca turilli etc..

I thought the sound clip was about tone and a player having fun, obviously I was mistaken :(

But then I am a shitee guitarist and would use that excuse.

As for shredding I only ever got as far as Al DiMeola, Holdsworth & Van Halen (and a little bit of Vai & Gilbert) after that point it seemed to be come a technical exercise, intersting but ultimately pointless in itself.

I have taken a liking to Zak Wylde since regaining an interest in guitar playing, simply because it sounds good (and he actually seems to enjoy playing).

Let people have fun and also get an idea of the tones available from BKP gear please.

...bla bla bla...

hey man, did you have to register twice: once for yourself and once for your ego?

seriously man, this is just about him having some fun and playing the pickups - I am sorry if we dont fit with your 'definition of shredding', saying it would be laughed at and about how quickly you could play amazingly...wow

Oh, and 'for everyone's information', I believe the person you find to be 'stupid' is Tim Mills...

Well, I don't know. Personally, I'll check it out for sure, it's always a pleasure to hear good guitar playing. And I think its' fair to give everyone a chance - which I guess is why his first post pissed me off. I feel that this is a place where we can be positive and constructive about each others playing, and if I have nothing nice to say, then I just won't say it. I don't see the point to lambast someone and then present yourself as everything they should be.

One person's playing can never be more valid than anyone else's - sure you may like it more, or less - but at the end of the day I think everyone has the right to express themselves musically without getting a battering for it.
