I've found my friend's 50W rockerverb to be FAR quieter than my 50W JCM800; His rockerverb on full volume is about the same as my '800 on 4 (master volume at 11o'clock)
If we're jamming at home level volumes, he has his rockerverb on about 1-2 and i have my '800 on about 0.1-0.2, lol

The rockerverb in my experience is a great amp, and it's a bonus that it's not as loud as some others which are just ridiculous. It has a very rich and clear sound. Enjoy

50w Marshalls are notorious for not actually being 50w. They're more like 70w. I don't know much about Rockerverbs but I'm assuming they're closer to 50w which would explain the difference in volume.

Edit: Just checked. Four 6v6s vs two El34s. That's the difference ;)

I can believe this.

My Marshall 2550 Jubilee is not that loud. I regularly crank it up past half way. If the neighbours are out, I'll even turn it up at home.

My JCM 800 4010 1x12 combo, on the other hand, is louder than God. I did a gig the other day and still didn't get it past 2. Very frustrating. I played a couple of chords with it turned half way up. Sounded awesome. The rest of the band complained!

I was under the impression that Orange measured their wattage differently. They measure the 'clean' output- hence why the Tiny Terror is a beast when cranked.

Not specifically orange, usually thats UK manufacturers I think?
The Matamp rating does seem very conservative however.

My 50W 1975/6 MkII Marshall has 2 settings - off, and stupidly loud! I have to use a power brake almost everywhere we play and definitely everywhere we rehearse. I also have a 50W mid seventies Fender Bassman and it doesn't even come close to the Marshall for sheer volume and projection. I haven't found this to be the case with modern Marshalls though. I had to use a Vintage Modern at a gig last summer and I wished I'd brought my MkII along as the VM was stupidly loud and very toppy if you were right next to it (our organist nearly went stone deaf) but I couldn't hear a damn thing up the front.
