Well if you do swap them out in the Mira, I'll buy the Mira pups off you  ;)

You really do like them!  :)

OK, if I do it's a deal!  But if I change the McCarty pickups I'll probably swap them into an SG or something.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

I recently swapped the #6 pickups in my Singlecut Trem for a set of Cold Sweats.

I found the #6 too bright in the bridge, too muddy in the neck, and really unbalanced.

The Cold Sweats are unreal. Much more powerful, but a brilliant rock tone. I'll post some clips in the next few days....

Hey jordan please let us hear some before and after clips if you can. I am particularly interested, as I also have a SC Trem Rosewood with #6s.

I don't have any "before" recordings, but here's a couple of recordings done last week with the Queen tribute band I play in:

Fat Bottomed Girls: http://youtube.com/watch?v=XXKdV_3cug4
Bohemian Rhapsody: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_Ku-xfi4gyk

The audio on those vids is taken straight from the desk, so it's pretty good quality.

The signal path for those clips was:

PRS -> BJF Pine Green Compressor -> MI Audio Crunchbox -> Boss DD7 --> stereo feed out into Rivera R55 and Budda SD18 combos.
(An Xotic BB was used to boost the signal during solos)

I'm pretty pleased with the 'fatness' of the tone, just what I was after :-)

Enjoy!
Jordan.

That was great!  I loved your keyboard player's backing vocals on Bohemian Rhapsody!  :D

You really have got to get a curly wig and white clogs though...

I have got a Crawler set in my Singlecut Trem and am very pleased with the versitility. They are clear, good string definition, well balanced, and the split coils are very good too. The original PRS #6 pickups in the Singlecut to my ears, sounded sterile on the bridge  and muddy in the neck .

Having used BKP's, I would have to agree with someone elses comments that the PRS Dragons 1's, although a good pickup, do sound  over compressed, are a lot darker and a lot less open than the BKP's. I don't make the above statement lightly, as I have been using them in my Artist III for quite and few years.

(I have also owned a PRS with HFS/VB and another with Dragon II's so I have a good idea of what they sound like too.)

Having started to use BKP's you can certainly hear the difference. The only way to to actually convince yourself which way it is,.....  is to do a direct A/B comparison.

I will shortly be swapping out my Dragon 1's for some BKP's
I'll probably get a set of Rebell Yells and/or Mules
