The track sounds great _tom_!  I don't want to jack this thread, but after listening to your clip I went on youtube to listen to more of this Supernau...I mean Dragonaut and it angered me how much they wanted to BE Black Sabbath.  The second riff is almost exactly like the main riff in Sabbath's Lord Of This World but changed just enough so they wouldn't get sued.

Sabbath - Lord Of This World

Sleep - Dragonaut

There are more similarites too.  In the Sleep video the singer is dressed exactly like Ozzy used to with the same hair and also played a Rickenbacker like Geezer used to.  Then you have the Laney amp and a Gibson, I was fully expecting an SG I really was.  I like Sabbath too but I think if you go that far with it you might as well be a cover band.  You can be influenced by a band and play in the "style" of that band without sounding exactly like them.  I haven't listened to any of Sleep's other stuff so I don't know if it's all this way but that video hit the hot button for me.

Again sorry for the hijack, I just want to know if I'm the only one that this angers.

it's typical of the doom/stoner genre and the vocal stylings do get on my nerves - we already have one Ozzy (well, almost - about 50%).

Yeah probably. I dont really have the best setup for metal so I cant really tell though. I'm useless at dialling in metal tones :\ With a boost its tight enough for anything I've tried to play on it. I think tim used mules in his ozzy tribute band so that says a lot. I'll have a go tomorrow if theres any track in particular you'd like to hear with the mule?

Sounds awesome Tom. In the guy's Matamp version  the bass sounds huge, BUT- your playing and guitar tone is far better.

Cheers sam, I used the same bass track he used but I guess didnt mix it in as much as his. I just listened to the original and it sounds really awkward now after getting used to playing along with these drums, like its slightly out of time, kinda annoys me! Dont people play to a click or anything?

I reckon Matamps are very much an acquired taste. I never used to like them, but recently it's just sort of clicked

great clip man! I am a big fan of SLEEP...I wish they were still together. I saw them live in around 1993 or 1994...I had the Holy Mountain album on tape back then...I have it on CD these days...

So you recorded this stuff with the Mules huh?

Sounds great... Do you think you can get the same tone with the abraxas, black dogs or even the cold sweats...
or is the mules the be all end all for this tone?

This reminds me I had a great Sleep t-shirt from when I saw them live but I lost it many years ago..I wish I still had it...it had an astronaut plugged into a bong on it and it glowed in the dark.../

Great stuff Tom. Never heard of Sleep before I listened to this. I may well look them up. The main riff reminded me of Money - not sure what came fist though!
I think I hate being indecisive.

Aethyria, I would say the Pig 90 is better for stoner rock stuff. Slightly looser and more stoner rock sounding. Clip of the Pig 90 doing Dragonaut here - http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=493678&songID=6737692

When you say pig90 do you mean the Mississippi queen p90 or do you mean another p90 that is also available?
