Gigging in America

Hi - was wondering if anyone could advise me if it is OK to use my effects pedals in America? I'm not too clued up on the voltage thing - I use a Visual Sound 1 Spot power supply, and if I was to use that and my pedals will they blow up out there?

Sorry for my ignorance on this matter, any advice or experience would be great,

they use a different power supply, and different plug style...

if its a switchable power supply you have then yes (providing you can find an adapter to convert the actual plug!), if it isnt, then no... you will have to get a step down\up transformer (expensive) or a US power supply for the pedal (or batteries)

I would recommend using batteries, unless you have a road crew that can sort out the voltage issues for you.

Single phase power in the US is 110v, that's half the UK single phase voltage, but they also use what's known as 2 wire 220v (2 phase) for big fridges, cookers and A/con. 220v is more prevalent in the US than it used to be but you can't rely on having it available from a wall socket if you're playing in bars etc. Buying a selectable output power supply in the US won't dent your beer voucher stash too much.
