They put me on oral morphine after my wrist operation 7 months ago. It didn't do anything :(
They said they didn't want to put me on the full-blown injectathon stuff because they didn't have any spare beds (it was day surgery to put a pin through my scaphoid).
Glad to hear it's working for you!

Roo

ouch! sounds nasty - hope thats all sorted.

I think the oral morphine by itself isn't that strong, but I also have paracetamol, tramadol and codeine four times daily so it all adds up to a yummy glow.

I saw this on the BBC web today:

If you are in Newcastle perhaps you can get on the test?

just to cheer me up, they took me into theater this morning for key-hole surgery. they took tissue samples from my knee and also washed the joint out to clear any infection.

still groggy as they gave me real-deal morphine via a drip. leg still hurts like a tw@t, hopefully they have prodded and poked me enough now to make a clear decision on how my condition is to be treated.

thanks for that Phil, seems like a very exciting development. I will speak to my consultant tomorrow and see what he thinks.

The codine is a pretty good opiate anyway, I have a choice selection of the 6 main opiates in my lab right now. I could make a fortune selling the contents of my labs fridge to Glasgow's junkies, damn these morals and today is my last day too!

Sounds lovely HTH, knees are one part of the body that make me all squeemish. Will this clear up or are you stuck with it for a while?

the joints need to settle down and the swelling decrease, we're gonna try some brutish injection treatment on Tuesday if things have got no better. downside is that its self-administered twice daily and I have a needle phobia.

once everything settles down the condition can be controlled and I can enjoy a fairly normal life.

Self-administered as in you have to inject yourself?! :o I'm not sure if I could do that!

my girlfriend is gonna get a 'how to' session from the nurses, she's a star - no way I could inject myself.

Sorry to see you aren't so well
I've had a year and a half of health problems but I'm just coming out the otherside.
I'd never been ill in 30 years and it makes you see everything in a different light
