I like BIG RACKS and I cannot lie
« on: August 30, 2008, 03:57:52 PM »
(excuse my Sir Mixalot impression)
This is my current toybox - will have to make room for the Egnater
To be fair the Egnater will live in the workshop rack and this will remain predominantly my ADA rack
It's a bit obscene really!

erm what do they all do?

I see a BBE maximizer, some kind of TC electronics unit, the marshall power amp and a power cleaning unit thingy at the top, no idea what the rest are but I'm guessing at least one of them is a preamp

I love rack gear...

I see an ada mp-1 preamp.. are the others ada eqs? and a pretty sweet rocktron piranha

I have a rack head, and a pre/power rig... but currently no effects racks....

i have had a korg A3 in the past, a behringer rack dsp2424 i think (pretty much a waste of time), a lexicon something, a roland dep-3 which was awsome till it broke.

but now... the boss ce-2 in the clean fx loop on all the time, just to add a slight touch of chorus is all i really want.

They're ALL MP-1s :|

Samson PB10
5x ADA MP-1
Rocktron Piranha
TC Electronics G-Force
BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer
Kawai MX-8SR Mixer
Marshall 9100 Power Amp - 50/50 I think?

I assume the reason you have 5 MP-1s is so you can have 5 guitars plugged in at once when you're doing guitar shows etc?

Otherwise I see no reason for it...

I assume, the 5 MP1s go into the mixer, and then out through the Piranha/G-Force and the Maximiser, into the power amp?

What you using as cabs?

I really don't get racks at all apart from simple ones that are a power amp, a pre-amp and a tuner. Looks damn cool though!

Same here. I'm a major simpleton when it comes to guitar-related technology. I'm not a technophobe in other areas of my life, but I can't be arsed with rack/floorboard guitar gear. How thick is the manual for that lot Feline?

Yes 5 MP1s but they are all different
Two are stock , but not for long as there is a replacement board that greatly improves the sound
Here is a list of the mods that are available for ADA MP1s
http://www.adadepot.com/adagear/detailled/ADA-MP-1/mods.htm
One is the 3TM version  (extra preamp tube = monster gain)
One is the Mod4 mk 2 - tweaked for 1980s hair metal - sounds more like  hotrodded Marshall
The MP1 classic is another variant they brought out but sounds very different , but has killer clean tones, although i may lose that
The red Pirhana is fab, - have another for sale in seconds out
Intend to link them all with a Rocktron Patchmate which will  allow me to footswitch between them , and route my signal via whichever I programme it to do

The TC G Force is the FX and the BBE is the sonic maximiser  - gives it all some extra sizzle
Marshall is 50w per side  tube power amp

It's pretty sick

Yes - this is most of what is left after I sell all that I have left in Seconds Out!
There is a smaller rack waiting for my Egnater  that has another Samson PS10 and a BBE
that is the one that Martamp are making the 10w power amp for

I like then big too, but not quite these

I've the same problem as Philly Q and Simon D... And I believe I could never get a decent tone with that many options... would get lost, change everything and find nothing

I understand the idea, but my life is complicated enough (and generally leaves me baffled most of the time).  I'd love play with some of it, but I'm at a point in my life where every second is precious...  If I'm not working I need to spend time with the wife and kids.  If I get time off for good behaviour, I go play.  Add too many buttons into that mix and I'll go nowhere very fast, I suspect.

I'll bet it sounds damn cool though!
