I have 3 PRS's, a Standard from 1990, an Artist II from 1993 and an EG4 from 1991.  They all have BK's on them, but they sound great and do play really well.  I almost had a singlecut too, but I got the Artist instead!  I would like to get an original Signature or a series 1 Santana.  I don't like the stuff with mega inlays (like the Dragons), but I do like the nice flame and quilt tops.  The Mira's look nice, but I haven't tried one in the flesh yet.

No PRS is my ideal PRS.

To be fair, I cant stand them. They either look like museum pieces (with the curly maple tops, binding, gold etc) or they look like they're trying too hard to look cool and minimalist (notably the bare wood ones). Sound wise I think they sound pretty sterile and they play TOO well (I like my guitars to feel a bit shiteeeety to really give it some). Besides, people are too scared to scratch them and they don't look cool with cigarette burns/buckle rash/paint missing etc.

Just my two penneth.

Agree for the most part, except for the playing too well part. You can set it up to play however you like :)
PRS are a good excuse to buy BKP too ;P

Not to derail the topic any further, but what's the orange one? It's the most eye-catching of the bunch IMO.

It's a Raven West copy - with all the hardware replaced and AII Mules on it.  The purple is a Warmoth clone with a Miracle Man set and a built in GK2 Synth pickup.

Handbuilt prices, factory made guitars says nae!

To be fair, I've just never played one I thought was even a reasonable guitar never mind an expensive one, vibeless non-playing doctors guitars is all I can see when I look at them. Like Harley Davidsons.

It's an Artist II custom ordered in Royal Blue without the clear 'binding'.  It has a set of AIV Mules on it.

Well you say handbuilt prices... across the pond £750 will get you a new Mira, and a little more a CE 22/24 (although I think they've been discontinued), which is quite a way off custom or hand-built prices in general.

I sort of see where people are coming from when you say they're 'vibeless', but I guess what others see as a lack of soul I see as elegance. Something like that anyway

I paid $800 for my 1990 Standard, £500 for the 1991 EG4 and $1,700 for the 1993 Artist II - all secondhand of course, but not handbuilt prices by any means.

Second hand prices don't count!

It's what they feel is an acceptable price from the factory that I think is pushing their luck.

Regardless though, I've played dozens and dozens and I've never played a single one that made I'd even take for free (other than to sell on ) so obviously for me, I just think they're ludicrously priced.

Anyway, back you all go to dreaming up your ideal instrument that looks like Paul Burrell's coffee table.  I've done enough derailing.
