Once upon I time I did my part as being a donor and all, but about six years ago my thyroid went whack and I don't think I can anymore. I have to have my blood tested two - three times a year to regulate the medication I now need to take on a daily basis: The joys of getting old.

All you guys who've done it are awesome :D

I need to, what a great thing to be proud of and I think I've got a rare blood type.

You don't see the blood(unless you want to). You lie on a gurney and the bag is below eye level. I know a few people who have the needles fear but still go and some are not keen on blood. I think the staff are sensitive to this ( at least where I go).

yeah, i'm sure they are. just it's not gonna happen. i'm sure not too many people with arachnophobia would volunteer to be put in a tank with spiders, for example.

I'm too busy reading fascinating publications from Watch Tower to find the time  :?

I would love to on a serious note but never seem to think of actually doing anything about it.

Well I cant give blood at the mo but I do spend my days managing a lab for the National Blood Service so if you have given blood in Southen England then it would have been processed in my lab.

Got a letter from them today and they want me to donate platlets.  I'm A+ bloody and apparently they need platlet donations of this type.  Means spending a couple of hours in hospital every month, but sod it, got free tea.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I'm A+ too, but they haven't written to me - maybe I'm too old for them to want my platelets.
