That is an awesome amp - I really want a Fender based amp. This is now firmly on my radar (along with a Feline, a Martyn Booth Special, a Custom Shop Strat, a Custom Shop Tele etc etc etc) and is giving me serious GAS. When I say serious I mean SERIOUS
I think I hate being indecisive.

Cheers for the pics Martin!

I have most bases covered with Martamps now:

* JTM45 and matching 2x12
* JTM45/100 and matching 4x12
* Deluxe 1x12 combo
* Laney Klipp 100w head modded by Martin to Plexi/JCM800 specs with a switchable extra gain stage.  It's very much like the infamous SIR #39 'Appetite For Destruction' amp

All of them have a particular character that I like - slightly bassy, darker sounding but still zingy and expressive.  As Martin will tell you, I play with quite a distinctive tone and all my amps compliment it.

Soundwise the Deluxe is no better or worse than my other amps.  Just different!  For home practice, recording and as a 'take anywhere' amp it's superb.  It can anything from Knopfler to Gibbons to Young to Moore.  I love it  :D

I haven't got a mic, so I can't do any 'proper' clips, but I'll get it hooked up to my Palmer speaker simulator and record some quick stuff through Audacity in a little while and post them in this thread.....

Dave, it just struck me - you're going to have to be careful with that Blue !   22 into 15 didn't go when I did maths at school !!

Not true. the Blue will be fine. The 15 watt rating of an Alnico Blue is a nominal value, not an ultimate limit, and quite conservative.

I hope so. It would a pity to fry such an expensive speaker  :gib:

I've never killed a speaker in my life before, and I hope never to. I'm aware that 2 blues is a traditional pairing for an AC30, so there must be a little bit of leeway in it's rating, as an AC30 will surely put out more than 30W at full chat.

I'm a natural worrier, so I tend to listen to other people's horror stories, and end up staying on the rather safer side of the fence myself.

Very tasty !
How close to a Marshall can it get?
I know Ace Frehley used to secretly use a Deluxe hidden behind the Marshalls for some of his tone

I'm all excited and eagerly awaiting my poweramp that Martin is making me
Should get it next week....... :D

As promised folks, here's some clips.  I'm no recording expert, so there's some clipping etc.  But you'll get the idea of what the amp can do:

My heavily upgraded Epiphone SG with Riff Raffs:  Deluxe_SG

My #2 PRS McCarty Korina (stock):  Deluxe_McKorina

And finally, my favourite pairing.  This is my Fender Custom Shop '58 Heavy Relic as seen in my avatar (stock):  Deluxe_Tele

oh wow. i was expecting another marshall clone (not that there's anything wrong with those :lol: ), but that's awesome. i think it might be my grass is greener syndrome acting up (i don't have any speaker cabs or combos in tweed), but that looks great.

listening to the clips, sounds pretty good thus far. i think i prefer tweed fenders to blackface, assuming i've got the right end of the stick regarding what the differences are (tweed = gainier and warmer, blackface = sparklier and cleaner, right?)... EDIT: just got to the la grange clip, excellent! :D

Very nice looking amp.  I'm sure it sounds cool - but a good thing you have power scaling I think.  If it is anythink like my Deluxe it will wail.   Martin seems to make really nice amps with some great ideas - like the lower powered Marshall with 6V6's.  I might corner him next time I visit Matamp - I still have a couple of amp ideas I would like to go over!!

Twinfan, are you happy you went with the Blue instead of the greenback in the end?

The clips sound great....
