I challenge anyone to find a drink that tastes less like alcohol than gin and grapefruit juice.

Energy drinks contain large amounts of sugar. It's probably the most addictive ingredient in energy drinks. They're also very sour. A sour taste is also addictive. It makes you want more of the sour taste while your taste buds grow more insensitive to the sour taste, making you crave for even more.

Vodka is one of the few hard liqours that don't make me sick the morning after. A Vodka Red Bull can be very refreshing when you're tired of beer. I once had a load of them. I never became agressive. I did forget half the night, so my mates had to tell me all about it the next day.

I never get agressive from alcohol.

i used to take protein shakes to go with my workouts.  gradually i found myself havving a racing, thumping heartbeat. i couldn't understand what was causing it, never even crossed my mind that it could be the protein drink. then one day i read through the ingredients and found that it contained taurine, also an ingredient in red bull and the like.  i stopped drinking the shakes and my heartrate quickly returned to normal.

after a drinking session your heartbeat will already tend to be racy, drinking redbull will only exacerbate this. really, the best source of energy (and in my case protein) is a proper, sensible diet and keeping yourself reasonably fit and healthy.  if you need an energy drink to get you going then you probably have a deeper problem.

Jaeger would be my rock'n'roll drink. And as for energy drinks....I've yet to see a regular gigging band which doesn't drink the stuff before going on stage.... :?

I am also hooked on energy drinks.

Rockstar, Relentless & monster are the main culprits.

Im not addicted to the effects or anything its just the fact that they taste so damn good.

In my old band none of us drank red bull before going on stage, always a pint :)

hehe, we used to do that, until a pint got more and more, and being tipsy on stage didn't do the songs or personal health (due to even less care about where you fling your body) any good... :(
We now have a policy (well, that sounds a lot stricter than it actually is...) about no alcoholic drink before the show. And if I have a heavy week in general plus a few gigs, I often find myself reaching for the red bull...

I had a can of it a few hours ago. I cracked it open. Picked up my guitar. Played. Drank. Played. Drank. Played. Played. Played. Now it's 5 hours past. I've put my guitar down to get some sleep for a LOOOOOONNNNGG day of lectures tomorrow.

I don't really drink much fizzy sugary stuff. I like tea, real coffee, Water, super cold 1664 or Budvar, real ale, Guiness and single malts preferably islay malts.

Since coming to uni this year (2nd year) I can't do without my morning Red Bull/Relentless (depending on how tired I am) and then Lucozade throughout the day.
Sounds bad, but I'm not addicted - I'm not the sort of person that gets addicted to anything. It just helps me stay awake and keep on the ball in lectures and tutorials, and with all my uni days starting at 9am other than today which is a day off, I often find myself having only got about an hour's sleep

Had too much vodka and red bull last night, I'm regretting it now as I'm getting irregular heartbeats again from it - hadnt had them for ages but this obviously causes it  :x
