Damn, you guys must be really good players, if those songs define your playing. Interesting topic I must say.

Now, I couldn't really make a list of the songs I really sound like because most of my playing sucks. And if I wanted to show you my playing I'd record some of my own songs, not someone else's. Anyway, these songs represent fairly well what I'd LIKE to sound like:

Jason Becker - Opus Pocus

Hellborg/Lane/Vanyakrams - Mirror (the fusion of Indian and western music has been done many times, but never as good as, or anything like, this)

Iced Earth - Dracula (crushing metal rythms and harmonies just don't get any better than this)

Ayreon - Day 12, Trauma (I think this song shows Arjen's brilliance more than any other song, but I wish I could say the whole album. He's also a complete geek and will write a concept album about the quest for a whole peanut amidst the smooth peanut butter, but that makes him all the more awesome)

Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons (for obvious reasons)

Steve Vai - Answers (one of the happiest songs I know)

Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction (classic, straight-up yet catchy and melodic metal)

Marty Friedman - Triumph (many have done the anthemic, majestic style of playing, but never as passionate as Marty does on this song)

Steve Vai - Rescue Me or Bury Me (with hands like that it's easy to overlook his songwriting ability in favour of his incredible guitar playing, but this song is IMO the best pop/rock ballad ever written)

Al di Meola - Egyptian Danza (wailing les paul, baby!)
Crawlers, Mule-7s

In my case I was putting down the songs that I felt defined how I played and what I aspired to. I can play the songs I listed to a good standard and I am comfortable with them and I learned them fairly early on and what I learned in them has influenced how I play.  I am more into playing that fits with the song rather than playing hundreds of notes. The main reason for that is that I cannot play hundreds of notes though  if i decided i did then I would work at it until I could but I have no desire to. Probably as interesting would be the songs I would like to define my playing but then I should just get on and learn them rather than wistfully dream about playing them. Waffling here but that was my reason for posting what I did.

Right this one is going to be really hard for me as i arent even 80% sure that i have found my own playing style yet.

However the songs that kicked off my playing rhythm wise in the first place would be.

Metallica
Whiplash
master of puppets
megadeth
symphony of destruction
disconnect.

i then moved away from the simpler songs and started on
Megadeth
tornado of souls
lucretia
testament
into the pit
trial by fire

then with my lead playing which isnt fantastic by all means i would say comes straight from
metallica fade to black and anything friedman (i cant play much of his stuff but hes a great inspiration to me)
testament

I can't even cope with such a difficult question! So basically I've opted out and gone for the easy option:

Hell Hole
Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight
Heavy Duty
Rock 'N Roll Creation
Big Bottom
Sex Farm
Stonehenge

All by  the mighty Spinal Tap!
Having 3 places left I'd add a song from Rose Tattoo, Motorhead and AC/DC....
Crawlers, Riff Raffs
