I'd say it's some breed of Zemaitis or other.

I do really like the look of those but imagine that they are very expensive (I can't seem to get into the link on the previous post, probably because my work firewall won't let me through!)
I think I hate being indecisive.

There are some earlier cones and now Greco make them.  I have 2 Jap ones which cost me around $1,500 each.  The metal front has an Emerald/AIV Mule combo and the pearl front is AV/AIV Mules.

Hmm.. I've been meaning to go to the Zemaitis museum sometime, it's about 30 minutes by train from here. Perhaps I'll go on Sunday and take some pics for you guys if they allow cameras.

Where do I look for guitars like that. Is 1500 about as good as it gets??

I'm sure they're great guitars, I've read a lot about them over the years... but I've never been keen on Zemaitis.  All those inlays and/or engraving are too fussy/intricate for me, and I don't like the look of the home-made hardware (although making your own hardware is undoubtedly a very cool thing to do).

Or maybe it's just because Ronnie Wood plays them....

You see them on eBay sometimes, if you search on either Zemaitis or Greco - usually from Japan.  Prices aren't bad, but not so good now with the current exchange rates.

BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Yeah - I saw Andy Mccoy from Hanoi Rocks using them last Friday (supporting Wednesday 13)

they have that Rolling Stones cool kind of vibe
Most bands that use them seem to have a stones/faces fixation : Aerosmith, Black Crowes, Cinderella, Hanoi Rocks, Quireboys etc

Most of those bands have done some great songs, but I don't like that Stones vibe - that ragged, just-keeping-it-together sound and wasted, sleazy, hard-living scrawny gypsy image.  It just doesn't appeal to me, never has.

Deep down I've got a puritanical streak -  when I see those bands (Faster Pussycat spring to mind too!), part of me is thinking they should sober up and have a bath and a proper dinner.

Subconsciously, it probably puts me off Zemaitis guitars too!
