WV Baritone finally completed
« on: November 08, 2008, 05:08:37 PM »
here she is:

its a maple/bubinga/wenge neck through with bubinga wings and wenge top and ebony fretboard.    natural oil finish which feels great

Scale lengths are 28" on the bass side and 26.5" on the bass.  Obviously the bridge is inspired by the blackmachine ones (credit where its due ;) ) currently tuned to A, E, A, D, F#, B

Tuners are sperzels, i had a moment with those a few months ago when i realised they would not fit the low baritone strings.. a quick phone call direct to sperzel and 2 weeks later i received a custom set of sperzels with larger post holes.. damn fine people to deal with!!

Pickup is a Blackdog.  we were talking about warpigs and painkillers but after a chat with Tim it had to be blackdog.  he said it was his favorite for baritones

Those contours/bevels are great, I love how it's a metal machine from the front and a completely different beast from the back.
Nice one.

It's not the kind of thing I'd normally like... but it looks good!

Truly remarkable to see Roo showing such good taste...

Are those the kind of body contours you mentioned on Fernando's SG thread, Wez?

no, but it is the same technique taken much further.. the SG ones are subtle enough to be nearly unnoticeable... but definately help the look

Thats a very nice looking guitar. Not really to my style, but very very nice looking indeed.

I especially like the psuedo SG look.

It looks great Wez, I'm sure it sounds awesome too.  The guitar does look is little schitzophrenic, with the dark front and light back.  I bet the Wenge top was a bitch to carve!!
So many pickups, so little time

Looks very well built, although the design and the baritone itself isn't my cup of tea... You know, I'm more traditional designs guy  :?
Keep on this thrill man, you getting really good! :D
Really admire your search for exotic looks, woods and technics... have to has guts to try this way!!!

And it's from Roo!!
Looks like you going to have a good guitar Roo, hope the neck isn't "ibanez wizard ultra-thin"

Holy shiteballs!  It's beautiful!(Rootiful?)  If I had money and lived in the UK I'd be all over you for a similar 7-string version.  More pics in better lighting please when either of you get a chance!:D

I find that guitar deeply disturbing.

It challenges what I know about the guitar and makes me confused.

I like my comfort zone.

Having said THAT...

... as ever Wez, it looks great.
