Those contours/bevels are great, I love how it's a metal machine from the front and a completely different beast from the back.
Nice one.

+1

i think i like it more from the back, but it's pretty badass from the front, too. :)

Wow, thanks for the fantastic responses, guys! I'll be heading up to Wez's place tomorrow to pick her up, and I seriously cannot WAIT! I will of course be taking many, many more pictures and making clips as soon as I can (these should be up on the web tomorrow I expect!).

One last word, and that is THANKS to Wez for being such a pleasure to "work" with (I say "work" because actually he did absolutely everything and more!). For my first custom (and given that I'm a one-guitar guy, certainly my only guitar for a long time to come), I couldn't possibly have wished for any better experience so far - Wez has been exceedingly helpful, expedient in all regards, and very knowledgeable to boot.

Wez, I hope this project has given you the extra fanned fret experience you wanted, and I am thrilled to bits with the way it looks (from pictures - roll on tomorrow!!!!!!). Now all that's left is to get playing her!

Roo

PS I can't believe this is on Page 2 before I've even had a chance to reply!

erm, like your mama said it should!!!

seriously, Roo said he wanted to do fast staccato licks on the bass strings with no muddiness at high gain... and we were after perfect defination with good tone as well.  he will have to tell you if we managed that or not.  to me the thing has great clarity and awesome sustain.  its currently on my kitchen table and i opened dhe case and strummed it earlier to be greeted by a very organ like sound.

we have a bit of a balancing act going one here, the bubinga, wenge, maple and ebony all  suggest overly bright, but that can work well on a guitar like this... but coupled with a grapthtech nut, saddles and a lower powered humbucker we also get a lot of tone and a very balanced guitar.  i am not used to baritones but have found it great fun to play

FE, there is more to maple than just hard or soft...it certainly aint rock maple but it aint like the soft flamed stuff either.  i got it from david dyke, asked for something with a little flame.... the man did me proud

absolutely gorgeous. And yes, it has a mean look. Love how you kept it raw wood.

Personally, with that, i'd play a combination of death metal... and really dark rockabilly. Like the kind where you sing about shooting people on your porch hahahaha.
my maxon OD 808 really DOES make poop sound good

Yeah! That one is very flamed, that's why I asked!

Looks great. I guess the fanned frets would be less noticeable with a larger scale length, they don't look as extreme as the other fanned fret guitar you have.

I like the simplicity too, some wood and oil, a pickup and some strings .. All looks very natural, even the body shape is strangely organic looking. Beautiful guitar.

Wenge is a wood that maintains a bright output?  I thought it had a lot of body and deepness to it... shows how much i know.  I was always under the impression that wenge is not anything like Mahogany particularly, but it does have a lot of bite and depth.

Again, it looks fantastic.  I love the natural look.  Those natural guitars tend too look miles better than colored ones; and UCK! grain filler?  Please.

Congrats Roo, i can wait to hear teh br00thalz on that thing, all while the overtones from its own br00thality through the speakers reverberates over the land decimating every Tele it touches ;)

Haha, loving the same suggestions, but this one already has a name: the Vociferator.
I had suggested the Violator, but as Wez pointed out, perhaps "The Venables Violator" had other potential meanings that he might not be too happy about! :D

silentrage: I don't think it'd be appropriate for me to answer that question on here - in fact it was a similar question I had which I posed to Wez about a year ago that led to me biting the bullet on this puppy, so perhaps you should PM him your question ;)

Obviously there will be clips in due course, I'll keep you guys posted :)
