So Dime was an overrated hick was he? :? What did you think of his tats?
Yes he was. I didn't like his tattoos much either, now that you mention it. It would have looked better if he had full sleeves. I don't really like that "one here, one there" approach. I think it looks ugly.
Surely this forum can do without such ridiculous comments. There are more than a few names (particularly in the genre of metal) that pop up on this board that I am not fond of. It certainly doesn't constitute a verbal bashing. In light of the way that Dimebag's life was ended, it makes it all the more distasteful.
Hey, i wasn't the one calling him a "hick," i just agreed. I did, however, call him overrated. As much in life, and much more so in death. End of story. I don't care if its distasteful, it is my opinion. Furthermore, my statement was final, i was not intending to draw this out, but since you took the liberty, i took my own liberty. Following that, the finality was to bring a close to letting loose my opinion and start talking more specifically ABOUT HIS TATS. Which i did, and yet you took those three words that i wrote - "yes he was" - and drew it out into a 4 sentence rebuke. I was moving on, i am sorry you couldn't take the cue, really, no sarcasm or hostility intended. I had moved on, and was planning to discuss his tats.
I will express my opinions, because i will always exercise that right. Furthermore, "overrated hick" was a conglomeration of terms. My original statement, and i quote, was "most mediocre musician of all time." I left it there. I was not the only one exercising my right to opinion, but clearly, my original statement was far more subdued than "overrated hick" - though, i really can't disagree, but, like i said, i will leave that be; whether you do, is entirely up to you. Feel free to disagree, by all means, but like you said (more or less) - dime is not exempt from artistic criticism, and that goes for anybody. ANYBODY. Nobody is exempt from any type of criticism whether they are dead or alive. I don't care if it is a taboo issue that he is dead. I did not make an overly vicious statement, you and Jonny Mac (sorry Jonny, but yeah), associated Jonny Mac's paraphrase with my words directly. I was trying to be playful about it, thus my post on the first page. The fact that i feel the need to write this defense is ridiculous, i am under attack for expressing myself, and not in any really malicious manner. Reference MDV's response to my "mediocre" statement on the second page, he got the playfulness and left it in that realm, while maintaining his opinion. Cool. For all the flak that i get for expressing my opinions at length on this forum, and for all that criticism directed at me that i am being malicious, you all (i am only speaking to the few that are involved) sure take interpretation to other levels. This wouldn't be such a big issue if you all could just take the playfulness and roll with it. But no, you had to blow the whole thing out of proportion.
I shake my head in sympathy.
